Raised voices and singing are banned in places that have opened so would the outside nature of football compensate for that?

Alongside NHS, Police forces, councils etc, all planning for a second wave in September/October i cannot see how this is going to be possible in 2020.

Could not disagree more. The infection rate is very low and falling. The hospitals know how to treat the illness. Itís far more dangerous to get in your car than go to a football match.

Yup.

Also your chances of catching it now are significantly less than they were likely to be than back in February when people were still happily going about their business (especially in London).

With a few distancing measure (masks on the concourse maybe) it should be doable to get grounds at least half full in a safe way.

By that criteria, some teams would clearly get up and running before others - Brighton, Everton, Arsenal etc. would have less risk. We would probably be amongst the last to be allowed back...

Social distancing in a stadium should work fine, so long as the R number is still low enough in October. Don't think it will add anything to the atmosphere if only 1/3 seats are used but at least it will get gate money up which is vital for clubs lower down the pyramid.

As for me, I'm currently shielding and although shielding is set to officially end in August I won't be going anywhere (bar long outdoor walks) until there's a vaccine.

How can you guarantee social distancing outside of the confines of the ground or on the transport network when thousands of fans are congregating at the same time before and after matches ?

Spurs have written to their season ticket holders and have said if they can open but a reduced capacity there will be a ballot for each game for season ticket holders.

Is there a reduction in season ticket prices? You can't charge full price and then tell people when they can come or not.

Maybe some of the Non League Clubs further down will get a boost if people are not able to go to the Premier League/Championship matches.

Looks like it could be 25% capacity to start off with.

Spurs have said they will refund 1/19th if each game you are unable to attend, my friend said they are usually very good about things like this but many are not renewing season tickets as they expect when things are back to normal to be able to get tickets for every game they want to in a 60k stadium

Logistically it'll be tough, they won't reopen at full capacity it'll be a limit (J-league has restarted here with 5000 cap) so everyone who wants to go won't be able to even if there is reduced demand. I can't imagine points being used as its for every game for the foreseeable too much hassle, a lottery system to pick the "lucky" 5k (or whatever the cap is). People will be spread around the stadium, you won't be sitting with your mates.

Now that it appears mouth droplets are the main cause of infection (hence the focus on masks) I imagine chanting will be banned (here they reopened the theme parks and banned screaming on rollercoasters - not sure how you'd enforce that) as said good news for Brighton but what happens if this rule and the one on mates sitting in groups is violated (it will be, my money's on Liverpool fans) back to square one?

Non league games are likely to be all ticket in such a scenario. I know that Dorking Wanderers are introducing a membership scheme for non season ticket holders next season.

I agree. Sell tickets match by match for games until the end of the year. If full capacity possible in 2021 then sell half season tickets at Christmas.

Goodness knows who gets priority though, all the 'better fan' arguments will come out whatever they do.

Yes makes sense them doing that as would imagine demand will go up if people are not able to go to League football due to attendance restrictions.

Believe Dorking were getting good crowds last season anyway.

"There may be trouble ahead..."

I've actually been wondering about this during lockdown. Those fans that go to every game, everywhere, however well (or not) the team is doing: how has it been for them not being able to go?
