As you rightly said Watkins is going to cost a tidy sum possibly 15m? i would say and he would still be a gamble as unproven at this level.
Personally i feel If we can move CB and CW on which is key to any progress, bring in Taylor on a free and maybe a sensible deal and wages for Batshuayi say fee around £13m as he is on the last year of his contract, plus along with Ayew and Zaha then i would say we would have a better balanced squad of strikers and capable of scoring goals.

Taylor is free.
We must get out of this mindset of 'freebies'. For a decent young striker with sell on value we must expect to pay a reasonable fee. The question is what is reasonable? We are a top flight club, and unless a quality player is available out of contract a sizeable fee will be likely.

We have just been un linked today.
Parish has said he would not touch with a barge pole Not in those words) but gave him some really heavy criticism,

I can find comments from Simon Jordan about Taylor but nothing from Parish, where did you see that?

This is good if true, cant see this being Parish's target player type

Taylor is citing a knee injury and fearing further injury if he plays out the season at Charlton.
Sounds like he's got a deal lined up at another club. The manner of his explanation suggests he fears a recurrence and that he wants to secure the new deal at a new club asap. Buyer beware.....

Good interview on Sky explaining his reasons for not playing the season out as a Charlton player.

I'm not convinced it is. He is being paid so should honour his contract. He talks about footballers being the first to go back to work but my wife works in a care home and they are certainly more at risk but have been working.

He is worried about an injury scuppering his transfer having already been out with a knee injury earlier in the season.

Just my opinion here but if he is fit to train and play he should be available to play for the team that is paying his wages now. If he isn't fully fit then he shouldn't be considered. If, for example, he joined Palace on a one year's contract would it be acceptable for him to say ten matches before the end of the season that he didn't want to play because he would be risking his long term future?

Clearly not. Unless it is medically proven that he cannot play, he's effectively withdrawing his labour and should not be paid. Not a realistic buy because of attitude, Premier league quality doubt, age.

I thought he spoke well but thinking about it, there’s no excuse for it. Would he have played the final games of the season had it not been for this unexpected break. He’d have been just as likely to get injured then.
