I've been posting this in the wrong thread in a sense so apologies for repetition/repost. But think Brownhill is worth a very serious look.

In a sense he would be a throwback signing as he doesn't exactly fit the current transfer template but I'm not sure that's a bad thing. Where we are short is in players who are at or near their peak - we have plenty with promise and plenty with experience but how many do we have who are at their best. All sides need a mix imo and part of our downfall this season has been having. slightly the wrong combo.

Is he good enough? Would he make the first team? I say yes. Not perhaps week in week out but again I'm not sure every signing needs to be "first team". It's a squad game anyway and will become more so next season with the 5 subs rule.

What would he provide? I see a bit of Macca in these stats. Remember he has done this in one of the poorest teams in the division. His chance creation from open play is actually ahead of Gallagher and his "stopping " ability much the same statistically. That he is good at set pieces is a definite plus as we are just about the worst in the division there.

These two tweets show his all round ability and status as being a contender in the best of the rest category.

Burnley is one to watch. The club was bought on the assumption that they could service the loan based on PL money, now they are down will they have a fire sale to raise the money needed to bridge that gap or will they hold firm and want big money for their players with half an eye on keeping them in hope of an instant return to the PL.

Their situation is more complicated than that in that they are where we were this time last year with no fewer than 9 players out of contract - a healthy proportion still featuring in fairly regular first team action. They need money to pay off debt but also bring in up to a third of a new squad.

Have always had a soft spot for them not least as "budget warriors" in the PL. Double demotion could well be a threat as they are also down a manager. They are so much a Dyche product that they will be pretty much starting from scratch in forming a team identity unless they hire a replicant.
