Beer snobbery is aboud in the 'Real Ale scene', and generally results in people missing out on some rather wonderful difference. The simple fact is that beer is drunk because of the alcohol and effect, taste and preference is just an added extra.

But elitists never like diversity. A good lager is a good as good real ale, or stout, or cider etc...

Obviously though nothing is as nice as West Berkshire Breweries 'Mags Magnificent Mild' (lol)

Indeed. Why so much hate? Iíve sat in pubs drinking the finest ales around, yet not really been Ďfeeling ití that day. Yet get in from a hard dayís work and thereís a load of cheap supermarket lager in your fridge and itís like youíre Garfield on catnip.

The trouble is, it's very hard to find a good lager in a pub.

Nice to see that the Mail, Telegraph etc, still have some scruples when No 10 tries to go all Trump-lite....

Political journalists stage Downing Street walk-out after No 10 tries to ban selected reporters from briefing

Rowena Mason
Political journalists walked out of No 10 Downing Street this afternoon in protest at the government planning to give a briefing on the EU only to selected reporters - banning The Mirror, i, Huffington Post, PoliticsHome, Independent and others from attending.

Reporters on the invited list were asked to stand on one side of a rug in the foyer of No 10, while those not allowed in were asked by security to stand on the other side.

After one of Boris Johnson’s most senior advisers, Lee Cain, told the banned reporters they must leave the building, the rest of the journalists decided to walk out rather than allow Downing Street to choose who scrutinises and reports on the government.

Among those who refused the briefing and walked out included the BBC’s Laura Kuenssberg, ITV’s Robert Peston and political journalists from the Daily Mail, Telegraph, the Sun Financial Times, and Guardian.

The briefing was due to be given by government officials, who are meant to be neutral, rather than political.

The tactics from No 10 mirror those of Donald Trump in the US who has been known to try to exclude journalists from reporting on his activities and represents an escalation of Johnson’s tensions with the media, which have been ramping up in recent weeks.

Johnson using the (thoroughly unBritish) Trump playbook? Literally nobody saw that coming.

But yes, well done to the Brexit/ Johnson acolytes and others for refusing to partake.

Ladies and Gentlemen, our democratic elected leader... Its not a left or right thing, its a freedom thing. A leader who seeks to control access to information and the press, is not one who supports the basic concepts of democracy, accountability and the fourth estate.

Its not a Labour Liberal Conservative, thing, its a right and wrong thing. And he is the wrong man.

And yet simultaneously, Boris Johnson cannot even arrange a selective briefing of tame journalists properly. Those on the chosen side of corridor must have turned to the dude from the Guardian and wondered why he wasn’t on the other side.

Also I like how the Express doesn’t even pretend to have a political correspondent.

I suspect that might not be true. Some who did won't - A lot of people probably only voted for him due to Brexit. I'd like to think most Brexitiers aren't actually pro-Fascist sympathisers looking to enact somekind of Fourth Reich, but people who just generally don't want to be in the EU.

I'd like to think that most Brexitiers are probably somewhat concerned about things like this, but they tend to get alienated when its presented continually to them as 'their fault' - it tends to entrench people's view points - and consequently causes them to double down.

This is heading in a very dangerous direction. This smacks at a Cummings experiment to see how far they can go. It might be tolerated in America, but over here, maybe not.

Hate to say it but it kind of is. Particularly as they voted for someone who in their manifesto wanted to curtail the courts from being able to keep the government in check, and they voted for a man in contempt of parliament who illegally shut down parliament. They voted for a liar - knowing he was a liar.

I get that they really really wanted brexit but if they voted for BJ ignoring everything else it doesnt matter - its their fault.

Yep.

And those on the BBS who slag off BBC news should also consider why the Government wants to choke their funding etc.

Only last week I heard how No 10 wanted to make an in-house piece with Boris for Fridayís Brexit and then expected the BBC to simply broadcast it for them.

Thus trying to turn our public service broadcaster into our state broadcaster.

Be very careful what you wish for folks.

Note - you are the only brexiter (reformed) that has commented and condemned. If you are right others will. Lets wait and see*

*There wont be any comments of condemnation from Boris voting brexiteers
