**** the Premier League, let's get relegated all the way to the conference so we can come back up again
This can't go on. It'll be funny watching it all fall to pieces when it eventually does. Though I've been saying that for about 10 years now... |

Sure but that only partially answers the question!

Do you say that as you feel it shows the club which players will make it and which won't. I ask as it seems most of our loanees are sold or released. I was shocked to read (I think it was you) that Boeteng may be sold this summer.

Southampton definitely throw their youngsters in the deep end and it works bloody well. |

I think that the key is not to put the kids in high pressure situations. For example, Paul Hart didn't often play Clyne even though he had been in the team for a couple of years and went with Butterfield's experience. |

Take it you weren't at the game against Valencia on Saturday? He was the best player on the pitch when he came on.

Don't remember Warnock blooding any youngsters when he was manager recently!

Neither do I, but I don't think we had any who were as good as Scannell or Moses.
We now have Kai Kai, Boateng and potentially this Dreher chap who can't be far away. If we get off to a decent start this year, it will be interesting to see if they are involved. |

Stick in the cup games to see how they do?

I want to win a cup, and think the club want to as well.

Scales was released after being loaned to a L2 club at 19, having been 90 mins from being released a year ago when he was given just a one year pro deal. He struggled at that level - never stood out hugely at 21s level but was a solid enough player.
Ollie Pain is a keeper, he went on loan to a non-league side and struggled. Again he was not one who excelled in the 18s. Totally different to Dreher who made his 21s debut shortly after he turned 17, and has excelled ever since, regularly training with the first team and also obviously getting the assist in the friendly at Fulham. I see this thread has gone off-topic a bit. There is an academy thread as well to discuss the academy generally. But I'd give Dreher some game time vs Blackpool, likewise Kaikai and probably Anderson.

Not involved in the U23 game today. Travelled with the first team to Spurs. I think we might see a debut tomorrow (probably off the bench if so)

Good news, I hope he get's game time. He seems to be a great prospect with a football brain, rare with someone so young.

More excited by developing a player with his potential then with the multi-million pound signings.
