This is very much in 'line' with the information I have received. 'Robert Green' was once understudy to 'Andy Marshall' and has gained a reputation as an excellent kicker of a ball, a good 'Shot stopper' and a laddie who is unflappable under pressure.

Good at shot stopping with his face as well.

So basically he's a good goalkeeper?

Very strange that this one has suddenly gone cold (for both Norwich and Palace).

SJ too busy e-mailing Inter, to sign any contracts ?

Not going to get into the 1st team at Arsenal this season, Pires, Lungberg, Hleb, Gilberto, Flamini, Fabregas etc etc are all ahead of him.

Comes to Palace plays most games - far better option for him.

That said he would not fit into our midfield unless we play 3-4-3 IMHO, he would have to play on one side or the other, preferable chopping and changing with McAnuff!

Sorry, Trolley, but this is a "Bentley" not a "Green" thread. Would you keep to the subject in hand please.

i think we could get away with playing him centre midfield.
to get the best out of bentley he needs to be central.

Been cold for Norwich since the end of last season. Would be very surprised to see him return there. Would be a coup for us, but i think he would prefer to stay at Arsenal than be out on loan to a championship club.

Would love to hear how?

And haven't you then got a little problem on the left?

The only way you could afford to accomodate Bentley in the Midfield is if you have a diamond so you are themn playing AKI as the defensicve midfielder! The alternative is outr midfield would be over-run. To many people are obsessed by having an attacking midfielder in the centre. If our wide players are creating chances then that will be enough. If we create 7/8 chances a game we should score 2/3 goals and then we need good defence to turn that into 3 pts - see ipswich last year for not how to do it.

Each winger makes 2/3 chances in the game you only need your 2 centre mids to create 1 each and all our centre mids are capable of that!

He can play in our midfield by playing on the left. We will never play
3-4-3 we bought Macken as a target man.

we need a player LIKE bentley with his creative input and goal threat. id still play with wingers, last season for much of the time only one of our wingers was utilised because of the lack of vision within our centre midfield.
bentley is a risk but ive seen him work up and down before and as long as he gets behind the ball when we dont have the ball with a holding midfileder we would get away with it. scholes who is very much a bentley type player has got away with being a central midfielder for years, hes hardly a good tackler and is often ahead of the ball - if we have the ball which these types of players would maintain better, then they dont have to be defending so much. we dont have to have a 'containing' team.

Exactly, we can get away with it in the CCC rather than the Prem where we would be murdered if we played this way.

depends on the quality of players we have in the team. its still a 4 4 2, with an holding and attacking midfielder, no free roles.

Scholes had Roy Keane alongside him.

We have 6 yes that is 6 central midfielders and you want to add another one, on the other hand we have 1 yes that is 1 left sided player.

If Bentley comes he shoudl come to fill the spaces we have in the squad. Some people seem to want to NEVER give players the chance to progress!

He would walk into our midfield. Apart from Kolkka, we have no left winger, and Bentley could play that role. To be honest, I am very suprised on how quiet it has been on the transfer front over the last forenight. Nothing really happening...
