Boris Johnson and his health secretary, Matt Hancock, acted “unlawfully” when appointing three key figures – including the head of NHS Test and Trace, Dido Harding – to posts in the fight against Covid-19, according to a legal challenge submitted by campaigners to the high court.

I wouldn't mind Johnson giving trillions to his school friends if any of these projects ever actually worked

The Tory Party like to present themselves as the tax efficient, successful business party but they have wasted billions on crap that doesn't work.

I’ve been in public service for 18 years and still maintain that the worst set of malingers I’ve ever worked with were very well paid toffs at Commercial Union.

There are some sensationally talented people in public service - like me - and there are some people who struggle to open their own front door in the mornings. I’d hazard a guess that proportions even out to any large organisation in any sector. The key difference being that in public service you affect many more lives. You won’t hear about shithouses working for Apple because you might not buy anything from them and if you do your interactions are limited. But we all rely on public servants daily so the impact of a bad apple is far greater.

Everyone knocks it and thinks it’s a cushy number but bods are not exactly queuing around the block when there is a vacancy. Why is that?

“a company called Ayanda Capital Ltd had won a £252m contract to supply millions of face masks to the Department of Health in April, at the height of the pandemic. The firm specialised in “currency trading, offshore property, private equity and trade financing” and was based in Mauritius.”

Yet present this with the question of why did you vote for them to any Tory and you'll get a "there was no other choice" type reply.

This has to be a sitcom, surely.

Well the story of The Clark Who Wrote To Himself is absolutely true.

A clerk (AO) had the job of drafting replies to public and MInisterial correspondence concerning a certain public service which he himself used regularly. One day he wrote to his MP, knowing full well what the process for handling his letter would be. Following that process, the MP wrote to the Minister, who passed it through his private secretaries' office to the branch concerned where it was given to the clerk's boss, who laughed his arse off for three days before asking him to draft the Minister's response to his own correspondence.

Is that the depth of your thinking? You don't see that you are simply told that there's no other choice, that's the narrative.

It's sad as ****, and with that continuing fingers in ears attitude we stomp on eventually to autocracy, then it's too late.

It's funny, because when I've seen pictures of places with awful despotic leaders such as in Turkey and the likes you see 'clashes' between supporters and opposers on the streets for years, even Mugabe had them, and I always wondered who actually goes out into the streets to support such utterly blatant shitbag leaders. Yet here we see it building up.

Probably got him out of a few jambs.

I'm unclear as to why the club foot was an issue, unless it left the office céili team short of a stepdancer.
