I think we agree, if we are saying that drugs buyers are implicated in the killings as well.

If you go down that road, then those laws that prohibit purchasing such things legally are implicated too.

Cocaine has surpassed Speed in usage as the primary stimulant drug in most of the UK. The big difference of course being price. Even expensive speed was cheap, but cocaine there is serious money being made.

The quality of coke apparently is high as well, which means it also make more crack cocaine (smoking rocks is still surprisingly popular around Reading).

Where there is serious money to be made on illict black market goods in a market that's easily accessable to entry, then you always get violence as groups and factions are incentivised to competition - and in organised and semi-organised crime, that means violence. This feeds knife crime (but its only a factor - it encourages violence).

And the popularity of cocaine and its quality isn't likely to significantly decrease either and nor is its market. The money to be made is significant compared to the options for those who are successful in the market. Just shifting an ounce a week could net 500 quid, or 2k a month in cash (which is roughly equivalent to a salary of 36.5k a year) - for maybe a few hours work a week. Throw some weed into the mix, and someone can quite easily be making a grand a week in cash.

And that's why people get killed over the drug trade - the money is very real.
But the price could well be your life, they don't care who they sell to ,but Maz reckons it's down to middle class consumption, just like the mayor

I have always said the way to reduce drug crime is to forget going after the dealers but make the end users a target, if roger and felicity know that if they are caught snorting a few lines after their dinner party that they could get 21 days in Wandsworth first offence may well make them think twice. Kill the market you remove the dealers.

Middle class coke users are complicit. If there were not consumers there wouldn't be sales people, distributors, team leaders or importers.

He is certainly not consistent in the types of mistake that he chooses to make.

I suspect I picked on the middle-class because they are so far distanced from the knife crime wave. Blissfully irresponsible. But I take your point.

Meh. Numbers too small to be a significant factor. But no, they’re not excluded either.

Tory MP Scott Mann, believes a solution to knife crime is to fit all knives with a GPS system.

To view the link you have to Register or Login

Every knife sold in the UK should have a gps tracker fitted in the handle. It’s time we had a national database like we do with guns. If you’re carrying it around you had better have a bloody good explanation, obvious exemptions for fishing etc.

Got some great responses like someone posting a picture with a knife strapped to an iPad.

Mr Mann admitted later that, ‘It probably was a bit of a s*** idea but, ultimately, we have a problem and no one's coming up with any solutions.’

At least knives are never stolen, lost, misplaced, or sold illegally, unlike guns!
