The only inference I draw is that we are probably not signing Batshuayi to a permanent contract at the end of the year. Unfortunate if I'm right. Hope I'm not.
I'd say Chelsea's transfer ban is likely to have an equal amount of sway in this.

Adds to the irritation when he comes on late in games and looks lost, wouldn't be so bad if he was a game changer, but he isn't.

Arguably Bentekes the better value of the two.

There have been some good insightful posts on this thread and I largely surmise from them that it's not worth buying into a PL club if you want to make money.

Hence I think JD will struggle to sell. Hopefully they aren't unscrupulous enough to sell to asset stripping (one way to make money) or leveraged buyout folk, like the Glazers.

It's the broadcasting rights that generates the huge income

A one off. It was a nonsense article. Club A makes 10m from match day ticket sales and it makes a profit of 11m so financially secure. Club B makes 10m from match day ticket sales and a profit of 9m so financially insecure???

An accounting loss due to player amortisations. The debt figure as at June last year will be more interesting as we spent very little in the transfer market this year.

One could argue that the emergence and potential value of AWB outweighs this loss.

Wouldn't make sense for the club to acknowledge this story one way or the other until there's something concrete in the pipeline.

For Bloomberg and the FT to run it, presumably there's more than a hint of truth that the Americans are talking to potential buyers. But that doesn't mean any change is around the corner - could be months or years.

I could be wrong, but however this plays out could play a huge role in Roy's future.

If we have money available for transfers and a new manager, this summer might be the right time to look elsewhere.

But if we'll have another season on a shoestring budget and uncertainty over ownership and the new stand, the prudent choice would be to give Roy another year. He has proven his ability to wring the maximum out of this squad. A steady hand.

Lack of transfer funds should also be front of mind before we start criticising Roy's efforts this season.

I am sure Roy knows full well that bringing on Benteke for 10 minutes at the end will not result in him scoring a goal - it is purely to make potential buyers think he is still a premier league player.

I really hope that we have now got the 'let's buy some big names' phase out of our system and we will get back to basics.

But it makes his appearances/goals ratio look worse and worse

Agreed but at least they'll know he's alive - it's not quite 'Weekend at Bernie's' yet.

I would prefer it if Roy put someone on to try and win a home game for a change, rather than showcase people he wants out.

It would be madness to spend 100m on a stand at this time by a club like Palace who aren't/wont be part of a global franchise.
Prem football is on the cusp of enormous change/upheaval. The big clubs will breakaway from Fifa and will be having their own subscriber based internet TV services thereafter.
The concept of single sport season tickets will be a thing of the past - 'home' matches as we know them will be few and far between: It'll be a traveling circus - teams playing matches all over the world.
Stadiums hosting football one week, then NFL, then whatever.... its the only way that clubs such as Spurs can hope to pay for the white elephant they've just built.

I suspect the Americans feel like this too. We've missed the boat and... Im I'm not too sorry either.

But. even aside from my doom mongering, 100m for that proposed single stand of ours always did look expensive to me.

I doubt anyone's that niave.

Just as spunking all that money on one stand will convince people we have a evolved into a top London club. It'll look like a bodge but with a tunnel club.
