I think we have a massive stumbling block at that valuation because of the cut due to Man Utd, and the uproar there would be from fans, knowing that we would end up with nowhere near enough money to strengthen the squad if we did accept that figure. I really don't know how this is going to end but we have a player who wants out, is still tied to a longish contract, and the club have so far priced him out of a move.

The African cup being during the PL season next year is of no help to us getting a decent fee if he goes or if he stays and misses a chunk of the season alongside Kouyate, Ayew and schlupp.

So, approx £40m after Man Utd's cut?

We shouldn't let him go for that. That said, I feel for him. He's underperforming due to the defensive work he's having to get through for the team, whilst playing in a negative and defensive Hodgson set-up. He's basically playing out of position in a team no longer suited to him. He's in between a rock and a hard place. It's not his fault.

Be lucky to get £40m after this season. Even that would be a stretch.

Heís a great player but heís been terrible this season.

I agree about the value. And I don't see many teams who are bigger than us wanting him. From Wilf's perspective, he should have left two or three years ago.

In all honest he is going to have to up his game quite a bit for the remainder of this season if he is going to attract the size of bids we would be hoping for.
On current form we would be fortunate to get much above 40m, makes me think we should have bit off Everton's hand when they were persistent in their pursuit in the summer.

And the teams that are the same size as us probably won't pay £120k a week let alone £50m+.

Yes it was a big increase in wages on the New Contract he signed with us but by doing so he very much restricted his options to move on.

The more money players are on wage wise it increases the package cost and as you say there probably won't be too many clubs who want to match or beat the wage he is on at Palace especially based on the season he has had so far.

If anything his value should have gone up, because he has done ok in an attacking sense, and has shown he can defend for 85 mins per game too. His defensive tracking back has been outstanding.

Is he the best left wing back in the division?

Been to every home game and at least 50% of away games and think he has been pretty awful with a handful of half decent games. Would not put him in the top 3/4 of our players based on performances so far (and mainly because he has played so many games). Would estimate his value on this seasonsí performances alone somewhere in the 10-12 million mark.

Now you are being silly. Treble it and his departure would not be fanciful, but I reckon Steve will want much more.

He’s been below par. But get a grip.

Wilf has been below par for sure but he's still been our best player by a country mile in most games. He's suffering from the fact that he is are only threat and in recent games there has been so little coming down the right the opposition scarcely need to defend that area at all.

We need an attacking threat from somewhere else desperately as stopping Wilf is literally all the opposition need to do.

Here's a novel idea - How about play Townsend on the right ?!
I know he's been injured a lot and not at his best this season but now
he is meant to be fit, so why not play him. Surely that would give us a bit more width ?
But Roy seems obsessed with playing 3 non creative central midfielders, with heavily marked Wilf on the left and the hard working, but not really a wide player, in Ayew, on the right.
It's patently not working, but RH seems unwilling to change it.

Iíve been to most home games.

Better than most of our team doesnít say much considering most of them would struggle to fetch an 8 figure sum.

By his standards heís been woeful. The stats back that up too.

I've missed 3 home games and seen quite a few others on TV, and I'm struggling to think of many games, where he has been way better, than the others, like in many games, in previous seasons.
I feel a bit sorry for him, as the transfer business was badly handled, in the Summer and he's always heavily marked (and fouled) and the team's only tactic is give him the ball, very often.
But he's on a huge salary and to me, he should have knuckled down and got on with. The whole time, I just get the feeling he's going through the motions, a bit.
He does get peed off with being fouled and wound up by oppo defenders and sometimes gets too frustrated about it (and I don't blame him TBF) but I've also noticed him whingeing at his team mates, this season.
Now, I don't consider that good, at all.
