And you were right to be worried!

Top traitor with 5 points was Wopper403, who predicted 2-1, Luka and Murray to score (again), and got a bonus for the attendance.

Also scoring 5 was Marksf, who got the same score/scorers combination.

Well done/boo to them.

Three players scored 4 points with 2-1 and Murray to score. They were Lords Eagle, Malarkey, and trufan.

Closest to a lower than expected attendance was Shipp Ahoy! who was just 3 away from the correct total.

251 on the table

No points in the top 3, and they stay as they are with cpfc@eastbourne leading the way from EddieEdwards and EastBerksEagle.

Lords Eagle was the big winner in the top 10, as he moves up to 4th.

The only other points scored were bonus points so it's as you were for the rest of the top of the table.

Watford 2 Palace 1 (Capoue, Gray, Batshuyai)

Att 18,104

Knowing I had the international weekend I had the rare chance to take my time over this one. TBH after losing to that shower of shite I have been putting this off anyway. However, time to bit the bullet;

Worksop Palace correctly predicted the score and added Capoue and Bats as scorers, 5 points in total. well done that man.
Eddie Edwards and Stellavista also predicted the score, both with Bats scoring, 4 point each.
The only person to get within 200 of attendance was Wrightchipvcfc +186, scoring 2 points for nearest and a bonus point for being between 1 and 200. He also predicted the right result, scoring 3 points and a bonus point in total.

Scoring 3 points for correct score were;

Flappy Chicken
Eagles 1977
East Berks Eagle
Lords Eagle
Philsick
DJ 784
Ruskin Old Boy

Scoring 1 point for correct result were;
CPFCfan1
Stigma
Grand Aigle
Davy 64
Oli 28
Mr B
Rhiannapaul
Penstone Eagle
Out Vile jelly
Sharkba1t
Gazz
Hi Hi
Selhurst300
melteagle
Hector
CPFC85
Dave CH
Addowolz
Charltonhater
Ian Hart
Palace Bear
Mark SF
Malarkey
Desperado
Asus
Gark Moldberg

I shall update the table tomorrow
Please note there are 2 predictors I have allowed a point, and only a point even though they predicted a Watford win after extra time. Those that predicted a Watford win on penalties I have disregarded as I have taken your prediction as a draw.

That's fine Ruskin, It will be added in. Another reason for leaving it a day before doing the table, it allows any mistakes I made to surface.

As you probably know, the winner of this competition gets awarded the beautiful and highly-prized Crystal Ball Trophy (unless there's some good reason not to, such as they're stupid enough to live in New Zealand). Last year's winner, Ruskin Old Boy, was actually awarded the trophy some months ago, but due to technical reasons (primarily lack of light) the photos of this momentous occasion were too dark for anyone to see!

So, after a few failed attempts we finally managed to get together again to record the event last Saturday before the Huddersfield game.

Great photo, Ian. Next time, you should stand up.

Congratulations again, ROB.

Cheers Hugh

Don't be harsh on Ian, he'd been recreating what it's like to play bowls in the winter. Not easy by all accounts but he'd got the click spot on.

Excellent photo. Reminds me of when I had a photo taken of Ian handing the trophy over to me. Must get on to updating for the Huddersfield match.

Huddersfield Home Update

Apologies for the delay in getting the update for the Huddersfield match completed. It has been a busy week, despite being retired.

It was a bit depressing reading some of the predictions of a Huddersfield win. It was not so much the predicted result, but the negative vibes that came with it.

Delighted that we won and the nightmare of our 3-0 defeat in the opening game of last season goes further away.

Enough of my rambling and on with the Crystal Ball scores.

A good number correctly predicted that we would win 2-0 and therefore score three points:
hughff
Shipp Ahoy!
Stumpy feelers
CriticalEagle
Flappy Chicken
Maidstonecpfc
oddrod
palacedan
RobertCPFC
selhurst_bbsh
sl6 Eagle
thereichstuff
hilairehair
Stigma

Of these, the top four also scored a further point for the correct prediction of a goal scorer, all for Luka.

A single point for the correct result, but not the correct score, goes to:
Anneseagles
bodger
Bungalow
cpfc@eastbourne
davech
Eaglefoz
EastBerksEagle
Gyro1780
Hdeagle
JAS78
Langers
mcmean
mogsey1510
philsick
PhuketEagle
rambo1
SOUTHGATE EAGLE
sydnsteve
wedgetail
Glazier69
Ian Hart
RazorsEdge
Ruskin Old Boy
Selhurst300
Stellavista

On to the attendance predictions. Just one person, CharlieCPFC, was between 101 and 200 of the official attendance of 25,193 and thereby gains an attendance bonus.

An attendance point for being within 100 of the official attendance goes to:
Ant.Palace
cpfcfan1
Favelly Weston
Wopper403
Wrightchipvcfc
Glazier69
Ian Hart
RazorsEdge
Ruskin Old Boy
Selhurst300
Stellavista
hilairehair
Stigma
CriticalEagle

A further two points goes to whoever has the nearest attendance prediction. I thought I was in with a good chance of these points with a prediction that was eight above of the official attendance, but then I saw that Stellavista’s prediction was just seven out, but that was then bettered by wrightchipcpfc with a prediction that was a mere five out. Disappointed.

Table to follow.

Spurs Update

Seven people predicted Palace would suffer a limp 2-0 defeat to Spurs in their shiny new stadium. Three of those predicted Son to score, picking themselves up 4 points. They were; Ian Hart, Shipp Ahoy!, and Thefunkymonk.

Understandably almost everyone went for a capacity crowd, with no one predicting and attendance below 60,000. So unusually the closest bonus went to SF Jerry, whose prediction was over 1000 away from the correct figure. It was also their first post on the BBS!

261 on the table

Everyone in the top 10 scored a point, so it is as you were, with the exception of Ian Hart, whose 4 point haul moves him up from 7th to 4th.

EddieEdwards still leads the way from cpfc@eastbourne by a point, with EastBerksEagle 3 points further back in 3rd.
