Due to start week 2 of C25K tonight but don't feel ready just yet. Due to step up to seven 2 min jogs with 1 min rest in-between. Bit of an increase from 1 min jog, 90 seconds rest x8!

If you don't feel ready you could either keep to a similar pattern to last week or try a slight increase, say by 30 seconds in the run element and see how that goes, and if you find you are struggling reduce the length of the interval again.
Good luck. |

Aye that's what I'm thinking. Maybe 90 seconds on 90 off.

You need water for all gels except the SiS ones which are far runnier but also come in a larger park so are less convenient to carry.

Its a bit odd thanks Kick it out Doris. I have massaged it and generally it feels better but sometimes i still feel the ache and it can feel like its cramping up.
Going to rest it again tomorrow and probably just do intervals on wednesday. |

Many of the companies who make gels do standard versions and isotonic versions.
Main difference being is the isotonic ones, like SiS do and I believe Hi5 do too. I personally prefer the isotonic ones but as long as you take your gels to coincide with water stations they're fine too.

Went out today for the first time since 27 October. Did just over 2km, alternating jogging & walking every 90 seconds. No reaction from my shin, generally felt fine.
It's good to be back on the road again! And I got to try out my proper gear for the first time too ![]()

My own running is a bit of a struggle at the moment - my legs continue to feel very heavy and tired. I suspect my body is fighting off a virus. I decided as a result not to enter the Greenwich 10K on Sunday week as it would be £17 wasted on a time that would despress me, particualrly when I can do that for free in the Kent cross country league the week after. ![]() |

Did another 3 miles last night - felt easier than Sunday

Been having ankle problems the last few days so haven't been on the road. Reoccurrence of an old injury which I dont think is related to the running as it flared up on Sunday.

My tooth extraction from last week is still causing me grief and I discovered something yesterday.
Don't try a 6 mile Tempo run when you're doped up on Nurofen. Made me feel somewhat dizzy.

Did a hilly 18 miles yesterday at 8min/mile pace and tried a SiS electrolyte gel, much better for me then the Powerbar ones, I just wish I'd taken a 2nd one with me as I suffered the last few miles. I felt like my legs weren't connected to me yet I somehow maintained the pace. It was a bit like when you watch the runners at the end of the marathon giving their all and wobbling all over the place before collapsing over the finish line. Most of it was my own fault as I didn't plan to do 18 miles so I didn't carb up the night before or take enough subsistence for the run. Good experience of how not to do it and what it feels like when you do cock it up like that.

I'm taking part in my first Mob Match tomorrow. 7.5 miles on a muddy and hilly Farthing Downs, should be tough so aiming for about 8.30 minute miles.

Did Brighton & Hove Parkrun this morning - I seemed to have hit a brick wall with this distance. Not the flattest of courses but I got round in 20:51 - PB is now nearly five years old (20:25).

I have entered the greenwich 10k - still somewhat injured but now I know its source I hope/think that I can manage it. I was still unsure whether I should run it or not but managed a hilly muddy hour around Ladywell and Blythe Hill fields so I should at least finish next week. God knows what time though. Was hoping to meet you, but the worse thing to do is train if you have a virus. However if there are any other BBS-ers who want to say hello I will be the fat old man at the very back wearing number 400 on my shirt and a pained expression on my face.

Did a 15 mile run today in preperation for London in 2hrs. Pleased with time especially as was early morning, with little carb loading and didnt take any fuel. Felt good although foot is still bothering me. Had a week off as pain would go but still no good. Foot is generally not too bad, the paid is only minor but it is always there and sometimes it feels like it is cramping up. It didnt affect my run but in the lastt 500 metres it became very difficult to run with.
I am concerned, i dont want it to affect training and dont want to cut back too much. Any ideas what to do? |

New to this thread but only six weeks away from doing the Brighton marathon which is a bit of a worry as im yet to do more than 12 miles but have been hitting the gym hard. Did 10km in 52 mins on the road last week which was quite impressed with but yesterday legs felt they had lead weights attached to them and only managed 7 miles which was meant to be my 15 mile run. Hopefully by next week will be able to say i have done this.

Good luck with the training. Do not make the mistake of trying to do too much. If you try and up the mileage too quickly you will only risk injury and put yourself further behind. Vary the types of runs you do and up your weekly mileage by about 10% any more will be too much for your legs. |

Knee's been giving me real gip recently. Aching on the inside, reckon it could be an overuse injury - I played an hour of five a side indoors on Monday after doing 10k earlier in the afternoon. That's what sparked it.
Given it a rest for the last four/five days. Will be out on the pavement again tomorrow for a leisurely jog. |
