They’re not playing to entertain at that age as yet. It’s still 100% about development. So they don’t really care much about getting information out to fans.

Well-Morrison the only one to stay on till the final whistle. Akinwale was the first England player taken off, Rodney was on a yellow card from the first half. Steford came on for Whitwoth with about 15 minutes to go which was a shame as the match went to penalties.
England won 5-4 with Stetford saving the final kick but Whitworth would have saved first 4 judging by his form this season! |

It's definitely becoming more of a thing at club level. Used to only find out about the youth sides in the program back in the day didn't we. Maybe the international federations have some catching up to do.

Wasn't this game shown live and for free on you tube?

Yes, that one was. But most aren't. And I mean in general trying to Google and just find a result and the line-up is way harder than you would expect. The FA website doesn't really give that info. for most games.

Couldn't we host an England under 18 game.....
Sure would be well supported given our current crop |

Think people forget sometimes that the majority of players in an U18 side will still be minors in the eyes of the law.
Physically they might look like men, emotionally they are pretty much still children. Heavy public scrutiny on their performances and careers through the media is not really necessary for their development, and it often isn't healthy. Notable that Southgate could only speak to Jude Bellingham through his father until very recently because the player was U18 - he literally could not call Bellingham directly due to safeguarding compliance. Bellingham was a child in the eyes of the law. I know people are interested in how these lads get on, there just has to be a balance in the level of access and scrutiny. Some of these players will go on to spend a huge chunk of their adult life, and their entire professional playing career, under a spotlight most of us can't even imagine. They have to be allowed to develop properly before that happens. |

Some of them are still children, of course, but they are still being regularly streamed, inteviewd and written about on their club's websites. In some ways I think that attention they are getting may be of use in terms of slowly introducing them to, and preparing them for, the huge attention they will get if they do make it as professionals. |

The U20s and U19s seem a strange age group as it doesn't correspond with the setup of academy's, at least in England where there are only 2 main groups, U18 and U23. The national U21 seems to cover the players 19-22 and I am surprised they bother with the u19s and u20s. What do other national leagues do in terms of academy players? Do they have u19 and u20 leagues?
