Good at breaking up play and win the odd header but useless coming forward. If he was a half decent in attack we would have quite a few more goals

He's ok, good engine and stays fit after mutual batterings. However, I don't really understand the West Ham fan's love for him as he's mostly anonymous....

Was excellent at WH. I have to wonder if he and Luka should share the same role as we really need a creative midfielder in the team.

I don't think it's a coincidence that we look so much more solid since he became a first team player. Those criticizing Kouyate for not being creative may as well blame David Silva for not being a midfield enforcer. If Kouyate could also drive the team forward and make / score goals, West Ham would have wanted £50M+ and he'd never have come to us anyway.

West Ham's culture is to play creative midfielders. I bet Kouyate would look really good breaking up play and then feeding such a hypothetical player to do the pretty stuff. The fact that a creative midfielder is the sole position we, as a club and culture, have refused to spend serious money on a transfer fee in over seven years, says far more about us as a club than Cheik Kouyate.

If he could break up play, win headers, AND be good going forward he wouldn't be playing for us

Shout out for Kouyate slotting in seamlessly at centre half, we're lucky to have him.

Another of the heroes tonight. Ironically Sakho was struggling for pace and it looked as if we might suffer from t(the ball in behind him. Kouyate was only in trouble once when he got a bad bounce off his body bu5 even then got back.

What a performance from essentially a midfielder! He was near faultless baring a bad touch in the 2nd half which you could call unlucky.

I have previously not been a fan of his. Changed my opinion massively tonight.

Wouldn’t be against him being there at Watford if need be now. Also frees up a space in the middle for someone else to come in.

At the end of the match Jimmy Mac congratulated him and made a gesture about Kouyate having someone in his pocket tonight!
(presumably Josh King?)

Would rather we play him there again than take any risks if there are doubts with Cahill or Dann.

Tough ask for him to repeat that performance. He was fantastic and Tomkins guided him through nicely.
He was having a cracking game in midfield too.

I think he's played there quite regularly before at his other clubs and also for Senegal. I'd quite like to see him stay there and give McCarthy a run out in centre mid. Crikey we've got some depth and quality at centre back and centre midfield now. Imagine if the injuries at centre back happened in the past few years instead We'd have been in real trouble.

Doesn’t he play centre half for Senegal?
