Rinse and repeat for the all transfer windows in the foreseeable future. Followed by all bedwetters saying he is definitely off in the next one. Just like we've had with Wilf for the past 5 seasons.

We complain that we are miles behind other scouting setups so if they are all that good AWB would no doubt be in their top 10 list of young right backs in the world to monitor and possibly buy if the opportunity arises.

The question remains whether one of the big clubs wants to start the whole bidding process. The Germans seem more keen on buying Brits than say the French, Italians or Spanish.

A link would be good - loads of transfer rumours are proved to be rubbish

Sorry, just to check, you do realise that 99% of all transfers that happen end up being reported by 'the media', don't you, and that very very few transfers ever come about where a player has explicitly stated that they want to leave the club?

Also what players say and what players mean are often completely contradictory. He's hardly going to say he wants to leave the club - it would be unbelievably naive.

That's not necessarily to say that he does want to leave, or that he will, but you need to get real with your constant "Palace/the player hasn't commented" type comments because that *never* happens.

He's perfectly suited to a team like us because he's better defensively than with the ball, and his main attribute going forward is pace.

Recovery pace is useful for a top six club, but I tend to think for their first team full/wing backs they'll be looking at players that can consistently deliver a quality final ball.

He is a palace fan and he has developed good friendships with team mates. He’s only 20 why would he want to go yet. He’s loved by fans there’s really no pressure on him which allows him to continue to develop and he has loads of time till he reaches his peak. I get the feeling that there is something special about the way the team get on, they are all very positive about being at Palace. A lot of them are very community focused and about giving back which makes a nice change.

He’ll look at Wilf and Batshuayi and realise that the grass isn’t always greener. As long as we look after him well, I don’t see why he couldn’t stay for a few seasons yet, always providing we don’t go down and have to balance the books

More by chance than design though. He’d not have put him in had it not been for extreme circumstances, he’s too risk averse. There was even a point he was itching to take him out.

72.7 pass completion (72.6 this season)

The big clubs don't start players who don't keep the ball.

He's human and money talks. If a fair offer comes in he'll be off.

In a nutshell.

AWB is one of the most grounded kids looking from the outside in. Even in today's mad world of football I could never imagine him in a million years demanding a move publicly.

But money talks, not only for AWB but the club also. If we receive an offer which we deem is enough to reinvest in the squad as a whole then we have to consider it. Look at how stifled we've become in FFP because we've not produced enough assets with any value.

Not that I want to sell AWB, but if we haven't got the required funds to sort the squad out this summer then it must be seriously considered.

In a team with better movement and better ball players centrally I'm sure that stat would be a lot higher.

There are very few journalists that can be trusted when it comes to Palace related rumours and certain media sources have a record of promoting fabricated rumours with little or no substance.

When our trusted or our official sources carry actual news then I will believe it but until that happens this is just another rumour to generate interest and can be taken with a large pinch of salt.

Any big club not interested needs to look at their scouting system.

^Any club worth their salt will sniff him out. So lets forget about 'rumour', it's fact. That is a distance from a bid, but at this time, there will be plenty interested. And anyone who is definite about he won't go, we won't sell, is mad. No one knows.

I suspect we will try very hard to keep him, and no one will want to pay enough to prise him away or turn his head just yet. But that's based on nothing more than a feeling.

Ah, a certain Charlie Wyett. The hack who has been stating that Wilf is off to Spurs every window, particularly those when he is negotiating a new contract.

Could it be his "source" for the transfer interest is a certain Will Salthouse of Unique Sports Agency, who happens to act for both Wilf and AWB ??

Now where have I heard of an agent using the press in the interest of his client(s) before ?

Keep dreaming Toffees...arguably the biggest underachievers in the league...and that's including Spurs!

North of £30million

Even Dowie wouldn't claim we would sell for close to north of £30mill

The fact that the teams linked so far include 3/4 of the richest clubs in the world says it all. Everton might as well be after Ronaldo/Messi in a double deal.

My only concern would be that he has been booked in each of his last 3 games.
The cover was too slow to put pressure on the ball - we were lucky we were not punished. I don't doubt that Townsend needs support. It would be nice if the midfield contributed an attacking threat and supported Andros. I'd like to see Meyer link up with him for example.

AWB is too valuable for us for us to let him go right now. Player of the season for me so far, and that's 99% down to his defensive contribution rather than what he has done in the opposition's half.
