I mean suppose Guaita’s out for 9 months. Do we look to get a keeper, or a right back or a striker in January? For me I am more comfortable with a Hennessey in goal than I am with Ward at right back or the farce of a strike force.

Ward was diligent in marking Sterling, and mostly successfully. We can speculate that Guardiola played Sterling on the left-wing because he suspected a weakness ex-AWB. Nope.
Ward also got forward when possible (not often), and had Wilf (also diligent in his defensive work, but not on top form), in front of him for the first half.
Sterling looked irritated that he didn't score his usual goal.

VG is our number 1 goalkeeper and he was injured yesterday, our number 2 came in and wasn't at fault for the loss and in fact played very well.

Actually, he played the 2nd half very well. He was shaky in the first. The 2nd goal was poor from a defensive and a goalkeeping point of view.

Guaita may not have saved the first goal but he would have saved the second. He keeps himself low so could have reacted quicker.
Hennessey comes out almost upright with his legs wide open & Silva puts it between his legs.

Maybe with Guaita in goal Silva would have put the ball either side of him & scored but it wouldn't have gone through his legs.

No, it wasn't his fault we lost. I just think he could have done a little better for the second goal.

When Hennessey plays i half expect the other team to score everytime they attack. I don't feel like this when Guaita plays.

I don't doubt Guaita is a better goalkeeper but I don't know why you can be so sure he would have saved a volley from less than 6 yards with little idea re direction (due to it coming over Silva's shoulder). Keepers tend to do the 'make yourself big' X thing don't they? The hardest thing to then is deal with a shot aimed between (or by luck) his legs. It's all a bit academic now anyway I guess. It went in. Guaita wasn't fit to play. Hennessey did a pretty good job of deputising and can't believe anyone would blame him for our defeat.

Disagree, GK's can only react when they are on their toes in their "set" position. What is this about getting low?

Yesterday Silva hit that ball too well, too accurately and too quickly for WH to get set. He would have been lucky if he had saved it, but so would any other GK. It happens

Agree - all top keepers get nutmegged sometimes - you can't possibly be in a position to save a shot either side of you if you are standing there with your legs together just in case. Silva was too close and hit the ball too well for Wayne to do anything about it.

Having seen the goals now I totally agree. People trying to fault Hennessey for either goals yesterday are just trying to back up their previously held views. He did well and was arguably our best player, certainly one of our best. We lost to a far superior team. Move on.

I can't believe people are blaming Hennessey! Keepers get nutmegged all the time, I don't think Guaita would have saved either yesterday despite him being far superior to Hennessey. City's second was just a good goal, it happens. Never understand why there needs to be a scapegoat every time we concede.

I still don't understand why he stood there ROOTED to the spot and didn't even lift a foot for the first goal. He just stood there, turned his head to one side, and watched it. Not a flicker of reaction apart from turning his head.

Could he have dived down there and scooped it off the line? We will never know because he had his lead boots on. It would have been great to see him try. But the result was that we were suddenly 1 nil down and chasing the game against City...
