Quite a few big clubs need firepower. The relegation places could be decided by which of Benteke, Bony and Berahino, get bought in January by ManU, Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool. Bony is the regular saviour of Swansea, they will struggle when he goes to Africa and/or gets bought.

What's Gomis general goal scoring record like? Cos at end of the day if he can lead the frontline and put ball in onion bag then he'd start ahead of chamakh if it's him who's dropped. We need to get rewards for our attacking play. Gut feeling says if we stay up it'll be our away form that'll do it this year so chances will be a premium.

I like Gomis. He is very definitely a step up on any striker we have on our books. We should have taken a chance on him in the Summer rather than buggering around.

So you'd judge a player solely on one effort? When playing under certain manager's they can get the best out of you. Clearly Pearson hasn't done that for Wood. His performances and record for Millwall was sublime and Millwall's decline as he left speak volumes.

If a player has ability, he has ability. Confidence and other factors may hinder them to perform to their maximum capabilities. Our very own Darren Ambrose at Charlton was exactly the same, his record and performances at Charlton were dire but previously at Newcastle and Ipswich you could see glimpses of ability. Warnock recognised this, put some faith in him and the rest was history.

The question doesn't need be answered. One of the most pointless things discussed who should start when everyone is healthy and available. First, the odds that every single one of those players is healthy and available in TWO MONTHS is very low. These things sort themselves out. If it doesn't, then its a good a problem to have. We can rotate players and keep players fresh, while having competition for places.

But if you are insistent on an answer, I would say likely Ledley.

Gomis is 29. We need a young striker. Diabate is 3 years younger, and may be within our wage structure, but there's no rush. We simply can't afford to pay someone 70k a week, but £12m fee is not a problem. I think we should look abroad for the striker. Failing that, use what we have. There's no point signing someone unless they will contribute throughout 90 mins. That means workrate, holding the ball up, winning headers and scoring goals. It means they have to be better than Chamakh and Gayle. We need to be in for the next Bony or Benteke and bide our time if one is not available in Jan. I genuinely think Zaha can step up and score goals if played further forward, and Chamakh, Gayle, Puncheon, Ledley etc will all have to chip in.
