I can't be arsed with podcasts (unless he elaborates on *that* story of course).

The signup spiel says that the writers will interact with readers in the comments.

This is a) foolish of them, and b) a great opportunity for you to ask him to elaborate

Obviously I would never lower myself to do such a thing. (And equally obviously, I don't know the wife of someone who worked with him at the Indy and so mos def wouldn't stir any shit or anything.)

Cor, this is like zoomgate déjà vu, except I think that this particular individual is a jolly good egg so will probably be sensible.

Aware he is now a Man United player but I wrote a bit on how AWB came through the academy

“He would get into trouble a lot at school but he wasn’t a nasty boy, it was just messing around, being late for lessons, playing stupid jokes and missing classes.

“He would mess about in football, too. He didn’t take it seriously or realise that you needed a good attitude on the pitch. The people he was with would always moan but Aaron would never, ever moan. I’ve never heard him say anything negative but he would be surrounded by people who would have a bad attitude – a group of four or five of them. The others would mess about. Luckily for Aaron he stayed in the academy and they went, that’s when he started to improve.”

I am enjoying it so far, but "The Owner" article would have been rejected by FHM for being too lowbrow.

I'm finding it alright, and enjoying some good pieces by Woosie, but don't think I would cough up £60 a year for it.

Ronay is ruddy awful, so the Staggers piece has no worth.

Barney, as I prefer to call him, is fabulous. I well remember him likening Tim Bresnan to a man clutching a kebab, sweatily chasing the night bus on a Friday evening.

Irony being that you have to scroll through ad between paragraphs on the site but you don't on the Athletic site.I agree £25 is fine but double that would require a lot more than its current content.

I think price point is key. I signed up for £30/year so £2.50/month and that seems ok, doubling that might be an ask.

Just read a couple of good articles though on Frimpong and especially about Matt Piper

I like him too but I swear i heard a very similar description once for Peter Reid, during Maradona’s second goal in 86

Hopefully without the child abuse, though.

Unfortunately the last thing I want to do when Palace are doing shit is read about football.

Same with the Palace podcasts. Just can't listen when we lose.

I need a subscription service that only charges when we win. Which will be £2.50 a year well spent.

I watch more football than ever, but find myself having less and less interest in reading about it or listening to podcasts about it. Content fatigue, perhaps - football coverage has surely passed saturation point at this stage?

I wonder, too, if there are very few genuinely good football writers, in the way that other sports produce wonderful writers (plus I guess reading about other sports that I love, but know slightly less about, naturally leads to more engaging pieces).

Good luck Woosie. It is because you will be writing articles that I will sign up. No pressure!
A few of my friends have signed up for this and are big fans. My delay in registering has been that they are Spurs/Arsenal/Liverpool fans. So the amount of content they are interested in is going to be greater.

How are people finding this?

I subscribed for the trial, and whilst I like Matt's writing am not really finding any interest in anything else. If I don't find other stuff interesting to read on there, I can't see even the discounted annual subscription of £30 being a worthwhile buy for me.

I've gotta decide by the 10th. One week to go! I think I better make a concerted effort to read about something other than Palace ...

Anyone else?
