Wouldnt have Woakes in a test Team over Sam Curran at the moment. Curran a far superior batsmen and gives a left arm over option, beneficial to Ali's or Rashids spin to the right handers.

I would be tempted into bringing in a specialist Opener in place of a paceman (Archer) and move Roy to 5. But i am sure Archer will be back in at some stage in the series.

Surrey bowlers getting smashed all over the place in 15 over game. Even Finch will have his work cut out. T Curran 1 over 27 runs.

Good grief: 226-4 off 15 overs.

At least it wasn't 20 overs

Blimey. That is quite some going.

Cant stand Essex's use of the 'Eagles' nickname....

In fairness, Curran improved after that.

He kept the runs down to 36 off his other two overs

Compared to red-ball cricket, I bloody hate T20.

Still, I’ll be at t’Oval on Tues & a couple of other games. And T20 Finals day is always fun, although I do always hope that Surrey don’t make it, so I can just properly relax & enjoy the day for the bonkers day it is.

Surrey is more about corporate business these days.

Winning matches is fun but making money is far more important. (Sadly T20 is part of the problem, the main being to get as many punters in as possible to drink as much alcohol as possible in 40 overs.)

Gould, Surrey's CEO, will bang on about the number of young players coming through but in emails to members the County tells us more about them playing for England than it does for Surrey.

Interesting you say that about the alcohol ROB. Here the Big Bash is very much a family affair with shed loads of kids. The money comes from the marketing , replica shirts and caps. Been a few times and getting a drink is no problem but not seen any drunkeness . If I am on honest T20 is not my cup of tea.

Have read that the Big Bash is a better option.

Found this article about T20 and alcohol:

This para caught my eye: Anyone who has been to one of the derby games at the bigger grounds on a sunny evening Lancashire v Yorkshire, Surrey v Middlesex, Warwickshire v Worcestershire for example could tell you why. For a significant section of the crowd, the cricket is of secondary importance. For them the evening has segued into one huge beer-fest of staggering proportions, involving gallons of ale, noisy reeling between bar and seat and pissing artlessly behind the stands.

That's how I remember the very last T20 I attended at the Oval.

The Kent Surrey Sunday afternoon T20 I went to at Beckenham a few years ago seemed perfectly civilised.

Hmm. Yorks Lancs next Thursday. I go with a group of mates. Not the most civilised event going. Lots of fun though.

The last thing you remember doing was pissing artlessly behind the stands? Well, I'm shocked

PS. How does one piss artfully behind the stands?

I like the look of Nabi and Robinson. Edit, Robinson looks a real prospect in his first ever T20 game.
