I pint of standard lager was 5.20 at the taxpayer stadium last season. Trouble is with so many local pubs having closed over the years and the decision to close the Crystals bar options are less nowadays. I guess more will be arriving late which will just make things even worse at the turnstiles outside the Arthur.

Things Palace fans want:
  • Keep our best players on top wages
  • Shiny new signings that will deliver European football
  • New main stand
  • Refurbishment of existing parts of stadium
  • New training ground

New income opportunities opposed by Palace fans:
  • Ugly betting sponsors
  • Secondary sponsors and brand partnerships
  • Increase in food/drink prices
  • New owners to broaden the investment base
  • Gold & Silver memberships
  • Increase in season ticket prices
  • Charging extra for end-of-season documentary
  • Selling our best players

Unfortunately you cannot have the best of both worlds. I appreciate that an increase in the price of beer doesn't make much of a dent on Benteke's wages, but it's all commercial revenue that goes into the club's coffers.

If/when we go down and the TV revenue disappears, the club will still need to make money somehow.

Also, paying a fiver for a pint or bottle of beer is completely standard in almost every sports or music venue across London. Selhurst isn't a Wetherspoons.

Some people need to get out more.

By continuing to piss off the people the people who go to home games the club are going to have less people to make money out of when we go down

Personally dont usually bother at the game. Little point queuing for overpriced rubbish.

Suspect it is fairly standard pricing for 'events' (for that is all we are) Gigs, festivals, etc all the same. Think it was 7.50 at the O2 last year.

Sorry but who's forcing you to buy alcohol at Selhurst?

You seem the type of person who's pissed off at just about anything. React first, think later.

The club has pissed off enough people that if we stay down for more than a season or two, we could be looking at sub-10k attendances.

The club are trying to milk every penny out of the Premier League train, but not thinking about the long term effects imo.

Forget the beer - you posted a number of things that we apparently shouldn't moan about and suck up. The way that you need to have gold membership to watch friendlies is systematic of the way things have been going the last couple of years.

I couldn't care less about watching friendlies, but when you hear that news you realise that the club are taking the piss a bit.

I think that's absolute rubbish and you've completely ignored my point.

You cannot have lots of nice new things without finding the money for it.

How do our fans not understand that? Have you never had to budget for a household or a small business, client project, anything like that? It's basic maths.

If we do go down and all the moaners, hangers-on and teenage FUTheads all **** off back where they came from, I'll be happy enough.

There's been a creeping but steady strategy of milking the fans as profit centres. So far it hasn't reached the point at which it is off putting. The obvious exception being the blocks B and E scenario. Disappointing though if prices rise in the Arthur but there are no improvements to the queuing outside or the toilets and concourse.

You can piss and moan all you like, but you cannot demand investment without accepting that the money needs to come from somewhere besides the TV money.

People genuinely seem to think 120m p/a is a bottomless pit of cash. As we know, it's a false economy when you have to pay ridiculous wages and high fees for decent prices.

The club has to make money somewhere. Charging fans for extra bits and bobs is not "exploitation" because you as a consumer have a choice about how you spend your money.

It's only "exploitation" if you're a mug.

Where have I demanded investment?!

And to make out that 50p extra on pints and burgers is going to make a difference to the club

Yes, That's the premier League as a whole, nobody has stopped to think there is no new generation able to afford these prices

Literally every other post you make is moaning about bloody transfers.

I think you're being deliberately naive about the challenges the club faces in order to justify your sense of indignation.

Also: you're 'CPFC forever' except when they raise the price of beer?

Always the same with some fans.

I don't see the 5 as a problem. I see the Carlsberg as a problem. I'd happy pay 8 for something that I didn't have to wait 30 minutes for only for it to taste like warm piss.

Dave. I understand the point you're making but...on your itemised list of things the fans want, only the top one seems to have been addressed whereas all the potential revenue streams are being cranked up to the limit. When the ride is over, there will be bugger all to show for it because it's all gone on wages and fees. That may be why the price increases are resented so much. Post above mine may well be the majority view though!

(Could you add subsidised away rail travel as part of the first list as well. )

I’m with you here. The odd pound makes little difference if you are only buying a pint or two compared to quality. Beer at spurs was lovely. Beavertown neck oil I think.

My group always meet on the Holmesdale concourse pre match and get our beers there. Now thinking we will have to change our plans as not sure I want to pay a fiver for a plastic bottle of average beer.
Much better and cheaper to eat and drink away from the stadium.

As nice as it is to meet at the stadium, it's really not a great experience.
