Pathetic. Yes I’ve got an issue with the royal family. But actually if anyone, a socialist or otherwise, had done what he had I would think they were scum. And to add insult public taxes pay for it.

You really are a bell sometimes.

How could we compete with all of that?
I think as the norm goes where the girls were also a lot more mature than boys of their own age again they looked upon us as kids.

I think maturity had something to do with it as well

Actually it was seen as cool to go out with someone older regardless of income and benefits - they were exciting - they had a job, knew the ways of the world, would take you out, they were a trophy boyfriend. There was also the slightly less defined view that you were obviously having sex if you were going out with someone older and therefore you were initiated into the ways of the world (that may not have been true but no one wanted to admit they hadn't had sex by the time we were 15 - lots of people obviously hadn't but it was something to keep quiet about and people who hadn't were the ones seen as nerdy or socially awkward or just immature).

In our classroom as people hit 16 in year 11 someone would always write a Happy Birthday message on the blackboard for them. And underneath inevitably someone would write "It's legal now!" Looking back they say boys were sex mad but the 1970s liberated girls in a way that really hadn't been around before and social acceptability as to what was right and wrong and damaging or ok didn't really catch up for a few decades.

The real question is one of consent & exploitation.

Yeah it is and was illegal for 18 year old to date 15 year olds but that is mile away from the Prince of the Realm touching up girls he doesn't know (and were trafficked) or indeed pimps targeting vulnerable kids to exploit them as prostitutes.

I don't accept the alleged behaviour was ever commonplace or accepted because of that problem of consent. It ain't good enough for rich adult to go to parties where girls are "laid on" for them. It's always exploitation.

It is not illegal for 18 year old to date a 15 year old. It is illegal for them to have sex.

However I agree that that is a different thread really to here. What did or did not happen should be investigated but to claim that Prince Andrew must be guilty (as some people are effectively doing) because he had a friend who was a nonce and one allegation smacks of an agenda . And heaven knows I am no royalist but I do believe in due process and not trial by social media.

Yes, I thought that. Or a very isolated all boys boarding school, where a quick fumble with Flashman was seen as recreational initiation, rather than sex.

You are aware of the difference between an allegation and a conviction, aren’t you?

I had a cleaning job after school, first in a Gas Board depot office and then in the local benefits office. A couple of us would always hang around on Christmas Party day, because we knew that older, often married, women would be half-cut and frisky, and that a couple of 15 year-old boys would suddenly look an attractive proposition. Very different times, different attitudes and very different from the Prince Andrew situation.

I mean to be fair I did try and say this thread was about Prince Andrew and the allegations around that. But Les said that I was a dictator for saying so.

I think Flashy would be more like the perpetrators of the greenhouse scene in Scum rather than someone up for "a quick fumble".

You do have to wonder if Epstein, Maxwell, Prince Dickhead and their ilk simply don't recognise what they did as being involved in sex trafficking. I assume for them it was just a bit of fun that money and privilege afforded them. They simply wouldn't see the parallels between their behaviour and, say, the Rotherham affair.

I think he was talking about NickP.

Obviously after a hundred posts the thread has gone off topic.
