PC / Gaming PC

My 12 year old son is wanting a PC for his birthday.

He says that it is to do general computing on - school homework/watching youtube/possibly editing youtube videos etc

He also wants to be able to play games on it - namely fortnite at the moment.

He is not an avid gamer or anything, mainly just plays with his mates on xbox.

Would a normal PC package (including monitor) in the <£500 bracket suffice for this or does he need something more powerful.

When people say gaming pcs, are these needed for fortnite type games or the more heavy duty ones?

Any help would be gratefully received.

£500 (not including a monitor) would be decent enough for Fortnite and other current games.

I can mess around with some parts and builds.

My nearly 11 year old daughter happily plays Fortnite on the old monitor we have in the back room.
