TV intermittent sound cut out

I know this a long shot but I wonder if anyone can help? I have a Luxor led TV and for some reason the sound cuts out without warning. When I turn the TV off for a while, the sound comes back. Anyone got a notion about the cause of this problem(I've looked at Google without any joy) or the possible solution?

Possibly heat related if sound returns after the set has been off for a while, allowing it to cool. Amplifier maybe running hot and cutting out. Does the set feel hot? Hoovering out any fans/vents might help.

Thanks. I'll check. I've linked it to a stereo via a digital box and HDMI and it's working fine now.

Make sure that all connectors are clean and fit tightly ,try moving any cables to see if you can isolate the problem.

Thanks for the advice but I'm leaning to the first reply because of the way you it comes back on after being off for a while. I know nothing about the internal amp for a TV but if it is gone, I suppose it is gone or...?

A dry joint is a soldered connection that has gone bad often due to poor soldering. It basically means the soldered joint has split or come away from the circuit board. Not always easy to spot as cold they can look solid but as they heat up the crack opens and stops the electrical contact.
My brother had a Grundig TV a few years back that turned itself off when it got warm and was found to be a dry joint on the transformer. Two TV repair centres couldn't find the problem until a third just manually rocked the transformer and a soldered connection just split apart that appeared intact on first inspection.

Does your TV have a headphone socket or Audio output you can try a speaker or headphones on? Will the headphones work when the TV speakers don't as it may narrow the problem down to the TV speakers or their wiring. If they do work then it could be a cheaper solution to put external speakers or sound bar on than getting it repaired if it is out of warranty.

I had a similar problem on a tv recently - what it was actually doing was going onto headphone mode without a 3.5 jack connected. Putting in a set of headphones and then unplugging them fixed it.

So I opened it up and with a pin removed the spring mechanism that pushes back when you connect a jack so although it wouldn't ever accept headphones again it stays on it's own audio.

Agree though a dry joint is more likely.
