Went to the Ride warm up gig in Oxford yesterday. Iffy start (weird set opener, starting with Polar Bear) but when they got going they were surprisingly good. Highlights were Vapour Trail, Drive Blind (including a 'mini holocaust' bit that lasted a lot longer than it used to back then) and the encores (Leave Them All Behind, Like a Daydream, finishing with a feedback drenched Chelsea Girl), by which time they'd turned into a rock behemoth. Didn't expect them to be as good as they were beyond a nostalgia fest. I suppose despite the shoegaze tag, they always had a bit of stooges thing going on. He should lose the hat though.

Providing I'm not working I'll be there. Haven't heard much off their second album but love the first.

Glasto line up looking ok now, no surprise Chems are playing. Even they wouldn't make me endure the constant hiking and WWII prisoner of war facilities. Still it's worth experiencing if you've never been if just for it's hugeness.

I think it looks pretty good. Enough that I would see over the course of the weekend but I don’t especially resent giving up my ticket given that it is £500 for the weekend.

Hot Chip, Caribou, Todd Terje I would all look forward to but have seen two of those before.

Needs a killer headliner – that I am interested in – at least. Foo Fighters are wank. Kanye deserves respect for his work and would put on a great show, I am sure, but he is also a giant bell end.

In summary, it needs an Arcade Fire.

If I was going I’d think it was good. However, it’s not offering anything that’s really made me jealous apart from Kanye.

Most acts I’d want to see I’ll get to see at Primavera or at the Sunday of Reading.

Everyone going will have an amazing time anyway though.

As I’ve said already though, the festival line-ups this year have been weak in general.

Passion Pit on Thursday was ok

I'd forgotten how much I like them but a very odd crowd. I was surrounded by a huge Asian contingent who didn't want to move and just film on phones and iPads which unsettled me a bit. Then I got two lads who just decided to act like tits and take photos of themselves. They then pushed to the front. 5 minutes later one got escorted out by the bouncer. The guy taken out was crying.

Last couple of songs I worked my way to the front to see some mates and hardly anyone was dancing. Most bizarre.

Surprised you didn't mention the live debut of Black Nite Crash
