Yes, and essentially an admission of another failure of planning by this government.

I dunno, the impact of this on people the wrong side of the asset owning divide has been pretty devastating really. Would it have been enough to sway the vote if this had been spelled out in this way? Perhaps.

I know at least one friend who said she was thinking of voting leave because it would lead to a house price crash and she had no idea how she'd get on the housing ladder without that impetuous.

Brilliant, yet another Brexit win. Well done Brexiteers, who could have possibly guessed that the likes of Boris, Farage, Rees Mogg etc didn't actually have the best interests of the people or country at heart?

Be fair, they've only had 5 years. Training new staff to consistently apply the appropriate level of xenophobic superiority at the border takes time

The lack of inbound customs checks is not incompetence, The extreme brexit position is motivated by naive free market economics, fot them this a victory.

Makes you wonder what is coming through the border. Drugs must be flying through by the ton. Charlie could be dropping in price.

The whole article is worrying. It reads as what can we now get away with as we're not in Europe I.e. what increases profits to increase share prices/management salaries at the cost of lower standards for staff/public. MHRA talking of cutting staff as they no longer have to regulate EU medicines. Possibly allowing more gene manipulation in agri-business.

But ffs reintroducing imperial measures after the last 30? 40?years of teaching the metric system.

Just had a look on google and it looks like we introduced the metric system in 1965 a full decade before we joined the Eu. I remember around 1998/1999 the metric system became the lead system on displays and packaging. Policies like this are simply to appeal to the grey vote.

We introduced it a little half heartedly, though. I was learning metric measurements in maths in the 70s, but running the 100 yards and the 220.

Whenever there was a debate in Parliament on whether our customs facilities would be ready the true Brexiteers always said we could just wave goods through if there were any delays.

Our comfort was that the goods were coming via the EU who had the same standards etc. Also it was all intelligence led so anything dodgy would be picked up.

I bet they never reckoned that the EU on the other hand would apply the rules from day one on our exports.

Do they really believe in this stuff??? Carry On films??? How about just re-running Love Thy Neighbour and Till Death Us Do Part. Surely they'll tick every Brexit box going.

So since leaving the EU we’ve decided we should be more like the French.

I see.
