I know nothing about the player but why would he leave WBA in January when its highly likely that they will be in the Premiership next season anyway??

A good point well made. Unless we're seen as a more established EPL club, as WBA tend to yo-yo. Or he wants to move to London.

I think because he is currently running down his contract and wound get a big fat wedge + salary by signing for someone else.
