VAR helps level the playing field due to bias in favour of the big clubs.

I particularly enjoyed the 3rd Arsenal 'goal'. As soon as they scored loads of Arsenal fans to our right were doing the whole laughing & gesticulating thing. The less moronic element were still giving it the whole 'finally-order-has-been-restored-in-the-world-because-the-Mighty-Arsenal-have-finally-received-their-just-deserts-and-those-uppity-South-London-wannabees-have been-put-in-their-rightful-place' smug looks on their faces. The blokes who are paid to wave the flags behind the goal got up and did their carefully choreographed waving, the TV pundits could be quietly pleased and the Arsenal armchair fans around the country could punch the air and talk on social media about another wonderful atmosphere in the cradle of football.

Of course when the 'goal' was disallowed the looks on the home fans faces made our celebrations all the more enjoyable. Funnily enough lots of the Arsenal fans who had been fully turned to the Palace support only moments previously, suddenly found their shoes fascinating as most of them were either looking down, or staring resolutely across the pitch.

VAR may not be perfect but at that moment, it was.

You've missed the point.

Had VAR not existed, we'd probably have 3 less points.

I don't want the spontaneity of football celebrations to die, or even be remotely hindered.

West Ham was great and the Arsenal match was justified and hilarious at the end, but I'd rather not be on the receiving end of that, which we will be at some point. I don't want to be thinking about VAR every time a goal is scored.

I suspect many a ref would double down - Clattenburg never admitted an error no matter how egregious.

Clattenc*nt was alone in post match reviews still claiming it was "a clear dive" by Wilf (Except maybe Chris Sutton, but he is irrelevant)

Just be thankful that he has retired.

VAR will benefit the smaller clubs in the Premier League, but there will be more stops in play. So far, I think that Aston Villa were hard done by in the Palace fixture. It should have been possible to withdraw the yellow card for Grealish and give Villa a free kick just outside the box.

I admire your faith in humanity, but in the real world there are clear and obvious reasons why people aren't asked to peer review their own work!

Exactly, even when presented with clear evidence they had erred most refused to admit their mistakes, them doing so live at pitchside is very unlikely

See Clattenburg after the WBA game as the prime example (I know he's a special kind of wanker)

How many utterly wrong decisions have we been stiffed by over the years. This means that the dodgy big club bias that has resulted in us missing out on perfectly valid goals or getting incorrect goals against given will reduce. I'd rather the decisions were checked to remove bias. Our referees can't keep up with the speed and pace of the modern game so they NEED a technology based solution to stop all the **** ups they make every week.

The bants potential that VAR offers the 'smaller' club is huge.

Everyone knew that VAR would remove big club bias and level the playing field. I can't believe there are genuinely people in here hankering for the big clubs and refs to daddy dick little clubs again by getting rid of VAR, the **** have you lot got, Stockholm syndrome?

Arsenals 2nd goal should have been disallowed. The guy on the front post who won the flick on pushed I think jimmy Mac forward then stepped back and won flick on. Without that
Push he possibly wouldn’t have flicked it on.

The Villa incident was due to Friend having whistled to stop play before the goal so VAR could not then judge if the goal was valid. All it could then judge was firstly was any tackle within the penalty area and, if so, was it then actually a foul or a dive. If the tackle was outside the area it could not judge whether it was valid as this is not within the strict guidelines for its use.

VAR is a leveller that's for sure against the big clubs.

I'm not looking forward to a last minute winner being ruled out due to VAR - at all. Maybe needs to come sooner rather than later, so we've all experienced it and can handle it better the next time!

The ref needs to be able to judge for himself on the decisions he is making - not independently from somebody miles away. He needs to go to the screen. Offside needs to return to daylight, between attacker and defender. Perfectly legitimate goals (in my mind are being ruled out when it is impossible to judge whether a toe is ahead of the opposition player) VAR was to stop bad goals being given as opposed to good goals being ruled out. The notification of VAR needs to be also for clear and obvious errors - only. Once ref has given decision any back-chat from players, should warrant an immediate Yellow, as dissent.

Regardless of how many decisions have gone our way so far, VAR is - and always will be - shit when used on subjective incidents.

It should be used for offsides and nothing else.

Clattenburg didn't make many errors to correct to be fair...... they were generally all quite deliberate.
