My simple worry is what goes around comes around we have been fortunate with some decisions this season to say the least I’m almost glad the Zaha rugby tackle was only a yellow it sort of made there (definitely fair goal) equalised if you can imagine Wilf running on and bursting the back of their net

All those whining about VAR now are just upset because the clear bias big clubs used to get has been eroded. They all have an agenda.

The top teams are some of the worst foulers in the Prem. About time it was evened out.

I don’t agree with the ‘those in the ground don’t know what’s going on’ argument being made by people who seem to watch games on TV.

I was at West Ham and Arsenal, and it was brilliant to get VAR turn the game in our favour. Properly celebrated. Only Arse fans are pissed off, and they would be anyway whenever any decision goes against them. Which makes it all the sweeter to see them raging.

So the palace fans complaining about VAR don’t like big club bias being erased?

There’s definitely valid complaints about VAR. People aren’t really adjusted to it yet, but give it time and the initial celebration after a goal will be far more muted, with everyone waiting to see if it actually stands. However, reducing the possibility of big club bias by simply bringing more scrutiny to big decisions is a great thing. I’m very 50/50 on VAR, it has pros and cons.

I think that the more conspicuous effect is that these teams can't bear pressure on the man on the middle like they once could... they can try, but taking the decision outside the arena means, quite literally, their moaning falls on deaf ears.

Can you imagine what Fergie's record would have been if this was in play when they dropped comments throughout the game and surrounded the ref. and so that they'd get dodgy decisions galore?

People always mention this muted celebration.

How many goals have been ruled out by VAR compared to the number scored. Our one at West Ham was ruled out by the linesman and reinstated by VAR. We got to celebrate twice!

So far there has been 286 goals given in the PL, when the ball goes in the net it is an overwhelming likelihood the goal is going to stand.

Remember how frustrating it used to be going home from a game where a bad decision went against us?

- Lacazettes handball
- Wilf getting booked at Watford
- Weed getting a penalty at their place
- Young/Salah/etc diving to get a penalty
- Etc

VAR sorts that out.

How many goals are scored from corners vs goals not scored? Fans still go crazy for them.

It only takes a very small chance of something happening or not happening to make a football fan react. We’re not governed by reason.

Agree. And is makes a disallowed goal feel like scoring.

It’s only because City and Arsenal have had their celebrations thrown in their faces that it’s causing a storm.

But if you foul all over the pitch and then score a scrappy goal, perhaps don’t celebrate with a knee slide.
