Some things I'm reading say that restaurants and pubs may be able to open during the ''Xmas week''. So, what are they actually changing after 2 December? The only thing we cant really do at the moment is go to restaurants/pubs, some shops, gym and socialise. They're definitely not going to allow the latter, so what is being eased if it isn't any of the others?

Similar report on sky. Number 10 continuing to brief the media before parliament post Cummings which is a shame. Sounds like the details of which regions are in which tier will be announced on Thursday.

Boris Johnson is to give Britain a pre-Christmas boost by scrapping the 10pm curfew on pubs and restaurants.

The Mail on Sunday understands that the Prime Minister intends to extend opening hours until 11pm when the second national lockdown ends on December 2. While last orders will still be called at 10pm, people will get an extra hour to finish drinks and meals.

As well as helping the hospitality sector, the plan – expected to be accepted in a crunch Cabinet meeting this evening – will help prevent crowds congregating on the streets at kicking-out time.

Toronto entering full lockdown, as their infection rates rise. Expected to last until Christmas. Melbourne have had 6 months of it despite having no infections for 22 days.

I wonder where they both are on the access to vaccine list.

One of the largest, and probably the most evil of the pub co’s, is reopening its ordering system from Monday in the full expectation that they will be open from the 4th.through to the 24th.

Followed by lockdown in January.

Marvellous.

Heard tonight that Hospitals in Leicester have stopped all Ďnormal opsí due to COVID volumes). Not validated it yet but good source, just not sure if they have relayed it correctly as brief conversation. Seems likely as new case numbers continuing to rise.

Apologies if already mentioned and this is all second hand I've just heard from some people working on this but if the vaccine suppliers make good on their promises we will be well suited despite government incompetency as our healthcare system is designed for this because its integrated across multiple social sectors and not just hospitals. Basically your local GP surgery (among other places) is going to be doing 8am-8pm vaccine slots by the end of March.

They've been producing the Astra vaccine since the 8th of November in Melbourne. Not sure when it will be released. January for health workers I believe.

We are still ten days from the targeted end of this so-called lockdown, with infection levels and deaths far too high, but Johnson has seemingly already made a decision about what is going to happen after December 2nd. He is going to replace this "lockdown" with something like a tier 3 plus plus, in other words another LINO (lockdown in name only). This will include opening the pubs again but delaying the closing time to the normal 11pm, and the mass exodus and congregational behaviour, outside. Shops are going to open too.

We have the prospect of the first round of the vaccination programme taking place next month that will continue apace into January and the spring, but Johnson could not resist doing what he always does, and that is pander to populism, and encourage more infections in the meantime, that will add to the burden that hospitals face, deep into the winter months, that could disrupt the focus on vaccination.

I simply say that given the vaccines are approved for use, why just because its Christmas, would anyone now screw up this programme with premature actions of this nature? 25% of people are already saying they are already or are going to ignore the family get together restrictions, this action can only add this trend, and lose everything we are currently gaining from the measures we are imposing now. Yet again, all the wrong messaging going out.

Boris saves Christmas is the headline he's wanted for a while.

The 'world beating track and trace system' headline flopped a bit you see.

Hopefully with a vaccine roll out in sight the restrictions will only be reduced to pre lockdown . What is the point in undoing the good work for a few days? Let’s keep numbers as low as possible and hopefully enjoy next year.
