Massive result this for Argentina, gives them a way back into the tournament if they beat Nigeria.

A win for Iceland would have been curtains for them.

There’s usually at least one big side which crashes out in the groups. Confident that it’s the Argies this time.

No because he's only in the team for personal gain. He doesn't give a shit about the team. The sooner he finally retires and they can rebuild without him the better.

Need to take the captain's armband off of him now if they want to save themselves.

His actions have not been those of a captain, and he should never have been the captain. The idea of making your best player the captain is asinine, unless he is a leader... Messi is no leader - quite the opposite as we saw in the Croatia game.

Yeah, what’s the factual basis for that? You can pick a few things like Icardi and the temporary retirement and attribute them to selfishness, but it’s hardly thorough.

Where's your factual basis? He was shit in qualifying and pulled it out the bag for the last game they had to win to qualify. Was hardly going to add to his "legacy" if they didn't even qualify for the World Cup. The whole point of him coming out of retirement.

I’m not the one making theories, I don’t need a factual basis. So your argument is retirement, Icardi and shit in qualifying before the final game (which is very debatable) all equating to him being very selfish. I’ll choose to disagree on this one, think it’s quite a leap to make, and ignores others possibilities (retirement could just mean he didn’t have the balls to deal with Argentine pressure for example).

Luckier than Southampton if they get through now.

If Germany insist on playing Ozil I think they could struggle.

I'd quite confidently put a tenner on Argentina to get through.

Answer me this honestly. If France had won Euro 2016 and not Portugal, do you think Messi would have come out of international retirement?

Quite agree.
They can leave this WC to those who want to play football.

Strange performance by Iceland yesterday as they seemed to lack their normal fight and passion which is what their game is normally built around, and that penalty miss summed it up perfectly. Maybe the expectancy on them after that win against England was a false dawn and this was their true level.
