If the players go and enjoy themselves, play with real determination and a smile, then I can see a semi-final place in the offing which is really not good as I support Scotland and it's horrible on that rare occasion that England perform well as I don't mind them winning then.

Good shout re Tunisia - unbeaten in qualifying and only loss to Spain in warmup games - would rather play Panama first:

If we win that game, I can see us winning the group.

Quarters, then probably out. But not the biggest shock to get to the semi. There again, not the biggest shock to not get out of the group!

I did a predictor and think I had them losing to Germany in the quarters.

I haven't been following England that closely but from what I've seen, the setup seems to be approaching things quite sensibly.

Not going in with high expectations,a younger team who might just try to play football without being so scared to lose they freeze,we will see.

Still feel a sense of lose for Zaha and England that he is not there,he could have been up there with his goals and making goals for others....That's not just the red and blue specs on, world cups are made for players like him..

Quarters. 2-1 loss to Germany in a decent performance.

We'll draw with Belgium as well

In spite of John Stones I think England might sneak through to the semi's.

Fourth place for me...

Quarters would be a reasonable result. Not a great skilful side but they seem to like playing together as a unit and there's reasonable depth.

Group Runners up, beating Tunisia and Panama but not Belgium, then through over Colombia, then out to Germany in the Quarters. So says my predictor sheet, anyway.

Would be an even match, could go either way. FWIW, they weren’t very impressive in qualifying, and struggled to score goals.

Reading an interesting Spanish newspaper view on England today. They're view is that our best hope lies in Guardiola. He's trained many of the winners of the past two cups and they reckon to have seen the influence of his players in the England team in recent matches. They note that many of our players are trained by some of the world's best coaches and that Southgate's system allows the players to perform to their strengths. Just trying to inject a little positivity.

I think they will do better than expected.
After all for a lot of the squad, it's their only chance of winning any silverware for the next few years.

Then again if luck falls are way and we avoid Germany in those then Semis could be a possibility!
