Tunisia barely ventured in our half yesterday and that penalty was a 1/100,000 jobby. I hope we get passed Panama without too strong a battle then I am looking forward to seeing what our defence is all about vs Belgium.

I'm thinking 100% of people being wrong is as likely as any of the remaining options at the moment, which would be quite impressive.

Losing the final would be terrible.
Anyway, us Palace fans are never wrong! |

England what a chance routes worked out lovely. Such a limited side didnt create decent chance v colombia .Wilf would have made such a difference the x factor is missing. Sterling is crap
Lose in final

Something that has crossed my mind regarding Saturday...
Sweden have averaged just 30% possession in their last three games. The only game where they dominated possession was against South Korea, but that was their first game of the tournament. Not having the ball in any game is mentally tiring. Concentration levels and focus have to be so high throughout. It's forecest to be pretty hot in Samara on Saturday. This might be the game where our patient build up play might start to really help us...as long as we move it quickly of course. Good tempo, get them working out of possession. In that heat, that is hard to do for 90 minutes of football.

Southgit needs to either bench Sterling or move him to the wing, its not working. I'd prefer him as a second half sub player anyway.

I do worry about them from set pieces. They are quite a big side.

Quite a big side? They look fooking massive. Are there any stats out there for tallest team at the World Cup etc? Sweden must be (apologies for the phrase) up there.
Bring in Stan Collymore to take on their defence. |

England are going to have to improve to go any further. As an example, looking at the way a team like Japan were able to pass the ball around effectively but still got beat. We are not going to get through given another performance like Tuesday.
I don't think we lack the quality but on Tuesday it looked like the burden of expectation is starting to build again. If it was a friendly I would be reasonably confident of beating Sweden, but it's not.

No chance, this is where 'Southgate as yesman' kicks in. All the pundits and sleb know-nothings have Sterling as the star, and he has a huge PR support (probably sponsors). The thought of that fragile little man bouncing off the Swedish defence, is not a happy one.
