Virgin Media Broadband

Is anyone else in area 03 experiencing slow internet speeds over the last few days?
Im on the 152 Mbps package but speeds between 6pm & 11pm last night were both under 1 Mbps.
Currently 50Mbps download, 11 Mbps upload.

Virgin have just upgraded my broadband from 150 mbps to 200 mbps and the upgrade has actually reduced my VIP Package deal by £17 per month as they now have reduced their prices.

Speedtest is now saying that my Broadband is running at 211 mbps and my Wifi is running at 54mbps.

This is using the new Virgin Superhub 3 modem which is dual band.

I did not ask to upgrade but Virgin told me that I could save a lot of money by doing so.

If you are already a Virgin customer it is worth asking them what savings are available as their pricing changed on the 1st July 2016.

Just got off the phone with them. Told em i really liked the look of Sky's Multiroom package. Came away with an extra V box for the kitchen, broadband upgraded to 200Mb and bill reduced by £1 pm.

£71 PM for the full house bundle, including BT Sport, 200Mb Broadband and two V6 Boxes.

Is there a charge for installing the second box?

Just wondering about real world experiences with virgin media. Used to have the broadband and must say it was fantastic but when I moved they weren’t in my area.

Virgin just came to my street ans now it’s gone live. As it happens my sky contract is at its end this month.

Sadly sky broadband whilst fairly reliable has given me a fairly consistent 25mb which was just ok for me but with the Mrs moving in and we both like a good stream it wouldn’t be enough ans was struggling with 4K at times. Virgin media was a no brainer

Virgin have a deal ending today for 100 cashback ans with a bit of haggling that was the VIP packaged (including a 350mb broadband connection) for £79 per month and 100 bill credit on top. So I went for it. Great deal for everything

Sky when I tired to quit battled hard to match that ans offered me £105 pm for everything and keeping my wonderful 25mb! Brilliant

Bit impulsive... will I regret the virgin switch? Do you get match choice for the football?

I know I’ve lost recording game of thrones

I can't ever go back to not having ridiculous mb broadband...

The 4K through the box for Netflix and Youtube for Virgin is excellent as its stable and doesnt use the broadband. I noticed Virgin testing 4K football with the champs league final (and it worked well even on the red button) so expect to have that next year too.

Not sure about match choice but you've always got the red button for the NFL for redzone so I'm sure it has the same feature.

Had V media in Croydon when we upgraded from 5mbps to 20 in the day that felt fast But can't get it here even though they just did 3 miles away.

Went on there community page with this query but they said there were no plans as yet to roll out where I am.

But I dunno if I should hold out for TalkTalk UFO which will be 1gbps and piss all over VMedia, unfortunately, it's been trialed in York for the best part of 3yrs.

Last year I was getting 45mbps on a VM 150 contract. I couldn't do anything at my end to improve it so trawled through the VM help files and their forum. Apparently a quick fix is to go into the V box security settings online and uncheck 'IP flood detection' and uncheck the VM box's Firewall setting (as long as your computer is Firewalled). This method is apparently given out by VM help staff as a last ditch attempt speed up things without having send out engineers. It uprated my 50mbps to about 140mbps (what it should be) and I haven't had any security issues since doing it.

Been with Virgin years and always negotiate a good deal each year. Currently on the "Fun" TV package (their second highest), 100mb Broadband, and "Talk Weekends" for the landline. Got that for £24.95 a month for a 12 month contract. No price increases either after the 12 months like there normally is. I don't have any of the sports packages so can't comment on that. I just use my parents log-in for for their subscription at their house so I can Sky Go on my ipad.

Never had any issues with of my products, and always a good service.

Just upgraded to Virgin's 350 mbps Broadband/TV/Phone package that is currently on offer for £89 a month on a 1 year contract.

There are no download limits within this package either.

As an existing Virgin customer the change was completed in 5 minutes and my speed has increased from 220mbps to 350mbps for £35 less per month.

I was lucky because my pre-existing 200mbps contract had expired and so no contract cancellation fee was payable.

My package includes the Sports and Movies option and so it could be even cheaper without these.

Amazing to think that my greatly improved Virgin package is now costing me £35 a month less than I was paying.

To get the optimum performance out of your ethernet connection ensure that you are using a Cat 6 connection lead and that your PC has an ethernet card of at least 1gb as many only have a 500mb card fitted as standard which restricts your PC performance.

An up-rated ethernet card costs under £10 and takes 5 minutes to change on a PC.
