I would agree with you that EN is far more likely. But are you referring to his tweet that said we are close to strikers IF JPM returns? It all sounds like we might do nothing as well. However, Alan Nixon yesterday tweeted that we "would love Nketiah but..." So, who knows... Last edited by Eddie McGoldrick's tash; 03-01-2022 at 10:51 AM. |

Didn’t he turn down our offer and wanted more? Can’t see us going back in for him after that

I thought after he turned us down we then ventured back to edouard and the rest is history

Negotiations broke down from the sounds of it, I just don't think that necessarily makes him a mercenary. I'm crossing all of my crossables on this one as I think he's a good fit and will offer something we don't have.
I also like the look of the Portuguese midfielder from Lille. Those two would make a remarkable window for us imo.

From what I remember we had agreed terms with Arse who said they had no plans for him. He then wanted a big pay rise to come here which we wouldn't meet.
Sounds like agents greed ****ed up the deal again. |

He can play on the wing as well can’t He?

Take him all day long.

Given we play most of our strikers on the wing, this would be useful if true

Not at the expense of a decent central midfielder I wouldn't

Nketiah is a poacher, and a bit lightweight. I'd also worry about a player coming from Arsenal's cosy academy and soft culture into our club... same thing with being happy to sit on the bench because of wage demands. (Happily and often proven wrong tho.) |

Firstly he can't play out wide. I think we're creating a lot of chances in some games he is a poacher in the Andy Cole mould he would be different to what we have wasn't sure on him but coming round contract running down 10 Mill would be good buisness. On a different note can't believe benik afobe is still around plying his trade at Millwall.. I've put the kibosh on this now surely we're be to good for that lot Saturday.

Really don’t think we need another striker in this window. I want Edouard to have an extended run as our main striker. Benteke and Mateta can cover.
We have more pressing needs in my opinion.

We need to a more clinical striker, the West Ham game enforced that. In addition we clearly we need a DM, an 8 and a young CB, but not necessarily in this window.

Actually think a rb is needed in this window

Think any money we have for this window should be spent on a def midfielder and box to box. Kouyate is doing well but is no spring chicken, and Gallaher is t ours. If no one is available that we think is good enough, put that cash in pocket for summer window as these are two key positions.

Why? Ward has limitations but not fatal ones. Clyne did fine when he came in and is only missing due to Covid, and Ferguson is ready to start trying to establish himself once he gets back from, presumably, Covid. Longer term, Roberston is doing well in the U23s with Imray a little further back age wise.

If we are talking to Arsenal about Nketiah I'd be surprised if they are not at the same time testing our resolve to keep Wilf.
He's now 29 and in terms of any sale price we are now heading in the direction of diminishing returns, probably depends on Wilf's desire to move but Arsenal has always appeared to be his dream move. Just a thought, pure speculation from me.
