He’s either too thick to understand that his demands / suggestions would be unthinkable for the French… or, and here’s the kicker… he’s done it on purpose just to appeal to the 52%, the thick xenophobic wankers and or the blue wall.

You may but as change takes time and that change is managed by diplomacy and negotiations not twitter published letter its all a bit moot.

Serious diplomacy is required on this matter not this schoolchild stuff. The world is very different in 1951 to now . There wasn't even a Premier League.

Why did they not publish the letter of June? This is not the first letter written on the subject of immigrant crossings in the channel. It is the first time it has been written and published. No doubt for the consumption of the British public or wider, but what was the motivation for doing so?

The french border Guards are just watching as these poor people(kids women) get on at best cheap rubber dinghies to cross one of the most busiest dangerous channels in the world. Winter is here so it will get just that little more dangerous, more people will die, and we can pretend we care while using it to blame our most hated politician.

British people need to remember Macron is up for re election and is posturing like never before as he is/was so unpopular. He's had the "gilet jaune " demos for 18 months, a scandal concerning his most trusted aide who dressed as a police officer and was filmed beating up demonstrators and was jailed. The farce with the vaccine rollout, announcing AZ didn't work for over 60's which had the scientific community scratcing their heads as to why he said it because it was simply a lie. Just last week, he announced that unless you had the booster jab your health passport would be invalid from the 15th December. A total cock up because if you had your 2nd jab in July, like me , you weren't eligible for your booster until late Jan so what were you supposed to do in the meantime ? Yesterday the health minister had to announce that mistakes had been made and the date is now Feb. That's just a bit of background info. I agree it was stupid for Bojo to send an open letter like that. That isn't the way to do business IMO.It should have been kept private. And Macron insists on being called " Mr President" Where I spend some of my time it's very much connected to the sea. The Brittany/ Normandie French are fed up with the migrants and want them gone. Many French are very nice to them and caring. I've heard people say that the UK is too easy and lenient with migrants which is why they believe it's Paradise, because they sure don't want to stay in France where it's tougher and only charities feed them. Finally, when you say " The French" be careful because it's very regional and the opinion in my area won't be the same as someone from the south or east.

Whilst you do, could i suggest you go here: To view the link you have to Register or Login Take the opportunity to read the letter. You will notice the first bullet point suggests joint or reciprocal MARITIME operation in each other territorial WATERS You know the place where these poor people actually lost their lives? Asking to DISCUSS the idea of british boats going closer to the shore where these unsafe, unseaworthy, overfilled boats are sinking not long after setting off. Does that not seem like a sensible suggestion to at least discuss? |

Indeed. The metaphor made a great deal of sense. Getting a mix of ingredients and throwing them all into a pot to construct a decent meal. I thought it was some new phrasing that was doing the rounds. I think you are onto something here. Some of the greatest discoveries are made by accident.
