Rensing is quite a good keeper, was by far Cologne's best player last season. Bit old fashioned but a very good shot stopper and decent in the box. Don't think his wages are that high - he was without a club for quite a long time before he signed for cash strapped Cologne.

A good win for Frankfurt

Agreed Bayern look strong but they have played Fuerth and Stuttgart, neither of whom will set the division alight. Wait until they come up against a stronger team.

I was delighted to see Hannover win 4-0 in Wolfsburg. Fantastic result, fantastic team performance.

Wolfsburg have spent millions and millions and millions on hundreds of players over the last few years but they never seemed to have a plan. Hannover have, obviously, and their scouting network is doing a brilliant job.

I follow Borussia Monchengladbach who I hope will continue from where they left off last season and be challenging for the top 4 again.

Shame Cologne got relegated as there is a huge rivalry between them and Gladbach and the games and atmosphere are always very lively.

I will be going to Hannover v Gladbach which falls on the Oktoberfest weekend.

C'mon Gladbach

Hannover 96 used to be my "local club" - we lived only a few hundred meters from the stadium. Now that we have moved it's a few thousand meters.

Cologne's the other German team I follow - fantastic club, great fanbase but so much mis-management over the last 20 years!

Lucien Favre's doing a brilliant job; I expect Gladbach to be 7th-10th in the league table at the end of the season which would still be a good result, IMO.

Cologne haven't been the same since Tony Woodcock left !!

Losing Reus was a big loss for Gladbach but hopefully De Jong can fill the breach and score some goals - He has been dissappointing so far and wasn't great in the Dynamo Kiev game at Borussia Park.

Last season will be hard to match but here's hoping that they can maintain the level and also progress in the Europa League and play one of the English teams.

Hoffenheim have been atrocious -- I don't understand how Markus Babbel gets jobs in German football. Bar getting a good Stuttgart side into the Champions League a few years ago, he hasn't achieved anything and yet always seems to find work. Their performance against Eintracht Frankfurt was a terrible one. Their start to the season has been very poor.

The other surprising result was that of Borussia Dortmund at FC Nürnberg; having just seen the highlights, I'd say that it was probably a fair result.

There's a lot of attention being put on the fact that Mario Götze isn't starting for them, with Marco Reus being preferred in the team.

Bayern were impressive this weekend, too.

Call me a cynic, but I am sure his story goes some way to explaining why.

Interesting you say M'gladbach and Koln hate each other as I know Koln are Leverkusen's main rivals, yet I've never really heard of any major animosity between Leverkusen and M'gladbach.

Sorry to shorten it. I just really couldn't be ****ed to keep typing their full name out.

It's the exact same show that was shown on ESPN about a year ago. It's pretty much a direct highlights show from the Bundesliga itself but with some rather ropey English voice over. Not sure who the guy is but he reminds me a bit of Terry Christian.

But the football is of a good quality so I don't care what the bloke is saying anyway.

Most of the time it sounds as though the commentator is seeing the pictures for the first time ever as he is talking.

As someone with a mild interest but who probably wouldn't want to sit down and watch hours of German football I think the show hits exactly the right mark. Although a few translated interviews with the coaches afterwards wouldn't be a bad thing.

The Bundesliga is great. The only thing I feel would make it better is if they had more teams in it!

I love the commentary in a wierd way, it's quite funny the way he talks.

Get ESPN for free on Virgin Media so enjoy watching many Bundesliga match's LIVE, but agree that the ITV4 show is pretty good to catch up on (even if the commentary is rather weird)

To be fair Hertha are not Unions main rivals that honour goes to Dynamo Berlin.
