Yup, Upton Park was shit and this will be even worse for them. Amazing what one unique chant can do for you in terms of being regarding for atmosphere, Liverpool are exactly the same.

I don't think Upton Park was shit. It was a great famous old ground.

I do think that like many grounds it lost something when it went all seater after the Taylor report.

Terracing was too early for me so I can only comment on Upton Park being all seater but I never felt like it was as charming as some other grounds baring in mind similar ones like Portman Road and Villa Park and as I say in regards to the noise generated, West Ham never really left much of an impression, especially taking into consideration the reputation they have been given.

RIP West Ham. The new gaff is just not for football. Those gaps between the top tier and the breeze blocks stands (still tinpot even with a 60k stadium) are just laughable. Everything else seems so Arsenal including the new crowd.

The owners are trying their best to model themselves as London FC. They really are aiming for the tourist club

Except the tourists they are most likely to attract are Croatians and Poles with a fondness for the film Green Street

Ok you wouldn't want to live there but I thought it had a good atmosphere, lots of pre match boozers, pie shops, cafes, surrounded by terraced housing. Spurs is the same.

Far more interesting for a football fan than the souless place where they are now.

I thought it was one of the better grounds in the PL for atmosphere, now that says more about the fans of other clubs in the top flight than it does about the Spammers.

I assumed it was having proper retractable seating like the Stade de France but no millions of pounds converting the stadium equals a load of scaffolding!!
Taxpayer has been mugged off again.

My mate is a West Ham season ticket holder and she sent me this view from her seat. I think it looks absolutely terrible. Given all the money spent on converting it (for football apparently) I'd expected it to be comparable to the Emirates.

Might as well watch it on telly...Upton park was a good old ground that gave out atmosphere now they are soulless.

When whoever sings "who the feck are you" they mean that literally for both sides.

Went there for the 2012 Olympics and having been to matches at the CP athletics stadium and of course the Seaweeds former venue at Withdean, the problem is, no matter where you are, you are at least 60 yards at best, but possibly several hundred yards at worst from even the nearest touchline, making play almost impossible to follow.

The other problem West Ham do not seem to have catered for is inclement weather.

Not sure if they have extended the roof, which was no where near the grass in 2012, but even if they have, there will be no cover for Mr Billic when the good old Stratford storms start up by the end of September - he will need more than a woolly hat to keep that lot out.

I can see it being quite a miserable place to play in if West Ham can not buck the trend of hardly ever finishing higher than mid table. Even in their better seasons, they manage to chuck in some howlingly bad performances at home, add in some poor weather and the crap long distance views (not to mention queues for transport, refreshments etc) and they will be asking to move back to East Ham in no time!
