Yeah, but playing devil's advocate, they were both against Championship sides (yes, I know Norwich was a PL game but with that weakened side they were like a bottom half Champiosnhip sides).

I'm happy for Mateta to be given more chances but I'm not reaching any conclusion from goals against those 2 teams.

He doesn't appear as clumsy in the recent training video as he did when he arrived. Looked sharp

He has played in the last 5 games and I assume his confidence is up. I should add that he has deserved to play those games and has effective.

I am really hoping we can turn this around for both him and us, he is certainly improving and we still have a few months before we have to decide

Scored a couple of decent goals, looks better on the ball now, but he looks settled in the training videos, happy to be part of the team. As Palace fans we know how important team spirit is. I think he'll get chances now, and I really hope he takes them. Seems like a good character.

“Vaguely OK” for 15m is probably not a bad deal when you think about it. He’s young and can score, may not be the fastest but we know his strengths and weaknesses and we only have Benteke one more season so there is room. Given what Woods has just cost 15m is not a bad price.

I think we see him as bentekes replacement. If he proves his worth then we will purchase him at the end of the season and move benteke on.

I just dont see Mateta leaving now, with the most likely scenario will be he stays but we ensure he does Not play the games needed to trigger his 15m Buy clause and he is returned at the end of his loan period.
Move on Benteke aswell in the summer, and then restructure our striker squad with Three new additions with Borja, Dennis and Nketiah.

Why would any of Dennis, Borja or Nketiah be happy to sit on the bench most weeks? What about Edouard? Where’s the rest of our transfer budget if we blow 70+ million on these three, or still a small fortune if we can manage to loan one of them?

So many questions.
