No mention of Wales? They will be nearly £250m poorer off, but don't worry we will pick up that money in Westminster.

Of course it may take some of the leave campaign's celebrated 350 million.

Surely the only legitimate mandate that these 'regions' have for leaving Britain is to remain in the EU?

I would just ask what are the odds that a stable and cohesive EU will be around in 5-10 years time?

With Britain leaving others will follow and I would have thought that the EU cannot survive in its current form in the wake of Brexit.

Scotland's position remains tricky while oil is where it is.

If the EU doesn't interfere in some form or other, I have great hopes that this will be very positive for both Ireland and the UK.

Northern Ireland moving towards the Republic will spark the troubles again but on the Protestant side this time. But there's no reason they can't have a Sweden/Norway relationship, with minimal border control and free movement of people nonetheless..

I've heard a surprising number of people on Reddit today saying they are Unionist that would now consider voting for a united Ireland.
Firstly I'm sure they all have a tendency to swing further left than your average Unionist, and secondly after the initial reactions a lot will calm down and revert to type.
Long term though I could see this starting a shift in opinions in NI with people on both sides starting to question what they actually get out of the Uniion

Also, while the idea of a united Ireland sounds good in principle, the net result will be increased violence and bloodshed as hardcore loyalists will not tolerate such a scenario.

surely a union of english speaking peoples makes more sense. UK, Ireland, USA, Australia......with free movement of labour. The EU is much less culturally compatible than a Commonwealth.

Regarding a united ireland, the numbers in the South who favour this are much diminished. What is the advantage of a united ireland ? apart from a better football team, not much benefit.

Economically the case for Scottish independence is even more buggered than it was in 2014. In reality I think the right approach should be to finalise and execute whatever is to follow in terms of redefining the UK's relationship with the EU before we either begin to listen to calls for further referendums.

Let's pick this thread up in 2022.

Indeed. But we promised to honour any financial losses they incurred from leaving the EU, whatever way they voted.

Breaking:

Sturgeon has just said explicitly, that another Scottish Referendum for leaving the UK is now being planned and implemented.

A favourite Harvard business review article of mine demonstrated quite clearly that we as a nation have more in common in the way we think with South Korea than we do with America.

Which is in turn a result of yesterday's vote.
