Federico Chiesa - Is that the Chiesa's son?

Yes indeed and he is a very hot property in Italy. Can play on either wing, behind the front man or as a centre forward, although the wings seem to be his preferred positions.

Seems he only has eyes on a move to Juventus though, which will go down well in Florence I am sure.

I was never the biggest Enrico Chiesa fan, didn't really do it for me.

Anyone who played in Italy in the 90s did it for me, does make me feel quite old though.

Really like what I am seeing from the Italy U20s, I wonder how their U21s will get on in a week or two. Another nation whose National Team has suffered of late.

Plizzari the Italy U20 keeper looks very good, shame he is an AC Milan player. I imagine he will get the chance to replace Donnarumma who should be off this Summer.

So Roma talking to Inter about Icardi, willing to offer Dzeko (who Inter have already agreed a deal with anyway!), Kolarov and El Shawaary.

Napoli also linked with a potential swap deal being lined up, sending Lorenzo Insigne going to Inter.

Advantage Venezia at the moment in the Serie B play out, leading 1-0 at Home in the second leg, 2-2 on aggregate and Salernitana down to ten men. Just looked up the rules and if the scores are level at full time of the second leg then the team with the higher league position stays up, which is Venezia.

They do have some odd rules in Italy like that. For example if the team in third of Serie B finishes 10 or more points ahead of fourth then they are automatically promoted and there is no promotion play offs (happened once about ten years ago!), also they used the same rule in the play offs much like the play out actually where if the scores are level after 90 minutes of the second leg the team who finished higher wins.

Just looked it up, it was 2006/07 when Juventus won Serie B, Napoli came second and Genoa went up automatically in third as they finished 10 points ahead of fourth placed Piacenza.

It also seems I made a mistake and Aerie C promotion play offs are only at the Semi Final stage, Trapani and Piacenza finished 0-0 in their first leg last night, the other Semi finished Pisa 2-2 Triestina in their first leg with the second leg in that one tonight, the second leg of Trapani / Piacenza is due next Saturday. Not sure why the long wait mind you as Pisa / Triestina played Wednesday and tonight.

Wouldn't mind Triestina winning promotion to Serie B, quite like the look of their Stadio Nereo Rocco, unfortunately they are currently 0-1 down there in their second leg mind you.

Trieste literally borders on to Slovenia.

I am having an absolute mare, but at least it explains Serie B now, there are two Play Off Finals from Serie C and Pisa have been promoted, next week is the other Play Off Final so Serie B will be 20 teams next season.

Looking at Serie D, quite a few former Serie A clubs who have folded and had to re-form have won promotion into Serie C this season, most notable being Bari who won Serie D/I by 11 points, at the first attempt. Other notable teams being Cesena, Como, and Modena.

Trapani win 2-0 against Piacenza to seal their promotion to Serie B taking the League back up to its proper 20 teams again. Trapani hail from Sicily so they will have a derby of sorts against Palermo next season.

Pordenone will play their Home games at Udinese's Dacia Arena next season as their stadiums 3,000 capacity isn't big enough to hold Serie B games.

Palermo could be back out of Serie B with Venezia brought back in to replace them as allegedly they didn't register their paper work in time, or correctly last night for league registration.

San Siro to be knocked down apparently with a new stadium being built. Sad times.

Well both AC Milan and Inter have said this. The Mayor of Milan on the other hand has said it ain't happening as he gave his word the San Siro would be the pinnacle of the opening ceremony for the Winter Olympics Milan has just won for 2025 and it won't be going anywhere until then.

Hi Riley,

I mainly used Football Italia as they update with most stuff although they don't always tend to go into great details so usually I follow their sources and some of the links have English formats too.

Football Italia:

Calciomercato usually comes up in English pretty good too:

And if you are sad and have a thing for Italian teams football kits this is quite a cool website to see when new kits get unveiled etc:
