50m thanks very much. Only the top 6 need a top class full back. For us its great but there are more important areas.

£50m with £10m add-ons would be a result. Would be a great shame but makes so much sense as we move forward as a club.

Crazy when you think about it and where some feel we are as a club now that we would not take anything less than £60m for our right back. Its not a judgement on anyone's opinions just an observation on how far we've come.

We desperately need to buy some quality attacking players, selling AWB could fund that. I'd hate to lose him but in terms of priorities it's a no brainer.

I feel saddened more at losing a local lad from the academy, than losing a talented player per se.

But £50m for a novice RB? Hard to say no if he wants the move.

AWB should wait for Man City. I want to see him go to a top Champions League club not a toxic has-been club that's falling apart and barely qualifies for the Europa league.

I'm fine with him going there. He could quite easily 'fail' at Man Utd, through no real fault of his own.

Then we get him back at a cut price. Sound familiar?

Problem with that is l very much doubt we would be able to persuade a quality attacker to sign for us and if we could, would we be able to afford the wages he would want? Therefore selling AWB would weaken the team. Let's go all out to keep him. COYP

Agreed. And not only that, I don't think Hodgson wants any attacking players. He wants to play with a narrow 4 defensively minded players in midfield (we have them already), a target man (we have Benteke and Wickham) and one pacy player (Zaha with Ayew as back up). I fail to see where the money will go if we bring in £50m or £60m.

Not saying there aren't players I'd like us to go for but I think Roy is content with our squad. Bring the wage bill down by cutting the deadwood, and bring in a couple of cheap loans to boost the numbers. It's not time for AWB to depart.

He won't fail, wherever he goes. But if he goes to Man Utd he will struggle to get a move to a bigger club from there. Playing for us for a few more years he will get the move to Man City to play under Pep in the Champions League. If he plays for Man Utd they will be scrabbling around in the Europa League for years to come. I want the best for our academy graduates.

To my mind, there is no bigger or better club than where he is right now!

It would would be a mistake for him to leave at this point in his career - IMO

Assuming Pep says around that long. If he wins champions league next season he’s won everything with Man C. Surely he’d want to move on?

Mate said that Man u if they can't go for AWB they will go for Trippier and Spurs would likely take that money and add an extra 10 and go for AWB so could be a decent tug of war for him this year

You fail to see where the money would go? Seriously? And Hodgson doesn’t want attacking players? That’s like saying he doesn’t want to score goals.

If we sell AWB we’d need a right back. We already need a CB. After two seasons during which we’ve played a number of games without a forward, and struggled to score goals, you don’t think Hodgson wants a forward/striker? Additionally, Given our home form it’s obvious that the addition of a ‘creative’ player might help us beat teams that park the bus - you don’t think that such a player would be welcomed by Roy?

How much would four such players cost? Ideally our scouting network would identify talented players for minimal outlay but it’s more likely that £50 million wouldn’t be enough.

I've got no doubt that AWB will be a star, but £50m+ for a full-back who only made his first team debut last season would be absolutely brilliant business by the club.

I just worry how we'll reinvest it!

Yeah, however the Zaha sell on clause bit is only of any worth when we sell. If we sell AWB and do tear up the sell on bit as part of the deal, it makes Wilf easier to sell.
