David Lidington - new PM?

I keep seeing his name floating about in the twitterverse as a replacement for May on the basis that he's competent and knows what he's talking about with regards to Europe (both of which probably rule him out)

Dont know anything about him.

Any thoughts?

Dare I say... A safe pair of hands? But not acceptable to the ultra Brexiteers, who currently have control over the maybot.

Well that's funny, I've just come to the BBS directly after looking him up, because I had no idea what he looks like. I don't know if that's a more damning indictment of me or the Tory party.

Dear oh dear, everyday brings up more embarrasment for the Goverment and in all honesty brought on by themselves, it is making us the laughing stock not just in Europe but around the World.
If and it is a big If Thersa May was to resign and i would like to see her go for the chaos her leadership has allowed to be created, but Now would Not be the time. The Country for the timebeing needs leadership stability (seems a joke to say currently) but certainly until we put forward to Europe our intentions, once decided she should then do what everybody would expect and GO.
Who should then take over? currently its easier to predict the winning lottery numbers than to suggest who is a viable Tory Leader let alone take over as Prime Minister, and i am a Tory supporter, it really is a sorry state of affairs at present.

D L is one of a few decent Tories, but being a good guy would rule out the high percentage of scum in the party voting for him. Of course he is a firm remainer as well which will not help.

The best way to sum him up is if he was a football manager he would be appointed as England manager

Waking up to the news of a #CabinetCoup. The list of Theresa May's potential replacements is awful. It's like having diarrhoea and the only options to wipe your arse are sandpaper, a ghost pepper, chicken fillets, your own hand, a child's face or some more diarrhoea.

If you wiped your arse with the chicken fillet you could rinse it off with some bleach and sell it to Liam Fox.

I believe he's only in the job because of Damian Green's porn infested laptop so it would be a scarily rapid progression.

What's his vision? Could he build on the lowest unemployment for 44 years? Would he cope with the Twitter politico hate mob?

He doesn’t seem very keen on same-sex marriage, but other than that and Europe no one seems to know what his other views are.

Won't be Gove in temporary charge.

Whoever goes for the next role as leader will need to spend time campaigning , persuading colleagues and then the members they are the right candidate. That is time consuming. You are not going to manage to do anything dramatic to improve perception of you in a matter of days/weeks but you could make a mistake and lose all hope.

Anyone who accepts the temporary leader role will someone who doesn't want it permanently, so Liddington would fit the bill pretty well.
