I do like Scott a lot and he's a good reserve to have (plus always a threat on corners, still!) but if he's got a year left on his contact then £6million seems decent to me. He's back from an injury and whilst it's true Mama and Tonks get injured a bit, if our reserve is more likely to be susceptible to injury as a result of the one he's come back from, then selling might not be the worst thing.

I'm a miserable ******, but trying to be positive, it may push us to look into bringing in a young centre half that can be fourth choice, behind Kelly, who can be played in the league cup and gradually put into the first team picture. Unless Sam Woods is that player, though I've seen very little of him, so not sure either way.

Shame because he has been a great servant to the club but £6M, clearing his wages and giving him a good, final payday would be right for all parties.

Would be sad to see him go - he's been incredibly solid for us, scored some handy goals from corners and by all accounts a good personality to have around.

But at 32 and with one year left on his contract, 6m would give us the chance to use that money to replace him with a younger player instead of having to fork out next season.

If we could get the fee a little closer to £10m - sell him.

He is on big wages, coming towards the end of his current deal, he is nowhere near first choice and if we are worried about who would be our 4th choice centre half, well Joel Ward proved he can play there as well as having Sam Woods to step up.

It's about time the club acted as ruthlessly as some players do.

Absolutely sell if it's £6m. Having a 4th choice CB on £75K or thereabout per week is why we have such a huge wage bill.

Sadly think we would have to sell. Put money towards young centre back on lower wages. James , Konsa been rumoured .Or try Kouyate and put towards midfielder

If Sakho goes, we need him. Sakho stays then £6mill is a good deal with Cahill on a free (depending on Cahills signing on fee demands)

I am a fan of Scotty, and he can still do a job when called up but we also have to be realistic that he is going on 33 and undestandbly has lost what pace he may have had also that air of command that he once had, and importantly is on 65k p.w that releases a big wage bill and the bonus is getting a fee of reputedly 6m which we should not sneer at for a player that is never going to be First choice.
I would be reluctant to bring in Cahill even on a free due to high wages he would demand, also if tempted to join he surely would want a starting berth and that wont happen if we keep hold of Tomkins and Sakho, as reserve we have the reliable Kelly and to replace SD i would like to see the excellent and commanding Cooper from Millwall, he would be an ideal replacement and on much lower wages and is available for £3m, and as the 5th CB our own young Woods to complete our Central Defence squad.

He’s on big wages. Will be bit part player. £6m prob a little cheap but if we could get a young replacement on half the wages then it may be good business.

Came through the season with his injury being managed very well, started to show hisold abilities towards the end of the season. He gets a full pre-season under his belt and we have great cover for the season with him and Kelly behind Sakho and Tomkins who, lets face it, are slightly injury prone themselves.

To sell for 6m is madness.

Why would we want Cahill? Seriously, we need to look to the future unless it's a direct improvement to the first XI. For me, Sakho and Tomkins are both better than Cahill is now so he wouldn't be. We can't afford to pay big wages for someone not in the XI, especially a defender.

1) Sell Dann and buy a young centre back as cover.
2) Keep Dann for one more season as cover, then release on a free and buy a young centre back.

Those are the two options. Taking into account transfer fees involved, Option 1 is going to cost more straight away, but will bring the wage bill down slightly. Option 2 costs more overall, but defers the big payment for another year. Dann has been a magnificent player for Palace, and I'm sure we will take his wishes into account.

This ^^^

If he wants to go that is. But for me, as good as Dann has been for us, I'd prefer to see Ward at centre back, and then Kelly, and then Dann. The Premier League continues to evolve and aerial ability is becoming less and less important, pace more and more important.

I think it will come down to whether Roy prefers Kelly or Dann - i have a feeling he prefers Kelly.

If you think we can achieve more than £6m for a 4th choice CB, who has been out with a serious injury for a year, on big wages, edging towards 33 years old and only one year left on his contract. Your not in touch with reality.

i would only Sell if the club are sure of keeping Sakho for another year, but i think it would be decent if we sold and got Cahill on a free and invest it into a new younger CB or position we need
