Different circumstances. This lad played all youth levels and had just win a world cup and then ****ed off to the taffs. Wilf was overlooked and had enough.

We could snap up Solanke if Bournemouth go down.

Southgate called Wilf as the 1st player he wanted to speak to after taking charge of England and wanted him to play for England, who he had already represented in a full international friendly, before he had played for Ivory Coast. Wilf turned him down and said he was going to play for IC.

I would say having already represented the England 1st team you are right it is different circumstances but i would say you have double standards there, sorry.

Southgate came and watched wilf get a MOM performance, was flying and picked Townsend instead, no double standards at all. Brooks is a turn coat, used out developments and took a world cup medal and ran.

New RB - Ferguson
Back up LB - someone young
Younger CB - if Sakho leaves
New Creative MF - someone who can drive with the ball, were covered in the DM position.
Back up Wide Forward
New striker

Then if Wilf leaves a new LW x2

Sounds reasonable

I actually think ayew would do well as a creative midfielder. He can pass, dribble, drive at players and carry the ball. He can shoot from range and finish in the box. He can cross and the freedom to roam will cause overloads with zaha and Townsend In wide areas. He works so hard too and would do well dropping deeper to help defensively.

Hard to name players to look at. Ferguson will be good.

The rest is so dependent on what happens with zaha primary as wed likely have to adapt the way we play rather than simply replace.

If Sakho goes we need a cb that will at least compete for starts and have some wiggle room financially.

If benteke were to go we need another target man. Again the finances would be freed up a fair bit too. Id like mitrovic if fulham dont come up.

Would love a striker like bats. The Russian guy perhaps. Morelos or Edouard. Whoever it is should be our main investment

Think he’d be their main man in the championship.

If we keep zaha, Townsend, schlupp and ayew I’d take ibe on a free. Decent squad option off the bench. We’d need the depth for our european campaign

Really, you have evidence of that?

Southgate's first game was in October 2016. He didn't pick Wilf for that game or any other. I remember him coming to Selhurst later on and Wilf playing a blinder, he then picked Townsend.

Zaha must have then realised that Southgate was never going to pick him and switched allegiance to Ivory Coast and played for them in 2017.

Zaha himself alludes to these events and their sequencing.

Read a few pieces about their financial prospects if relegated and its not pretty. Pretty sure their wages have exceeded turnover for the last few seasons. Also some pretty hefty future transfer payments due next year.
It will be more a case of the player being in demand by several clubs that will push the price up, and even at 30m for a 22yr old very exciting prospect would represent great value and he will be snapped up.

It was clear wilf wanted to play for England, if Southgate wanted him so much he should of picked him.

Someone said earlier do not expect any more than 2/3 signings and I agree, I don't think we'll be busy as you've stated in this transfer market.

Signing experienced 28+ year old players is good on a season by season basis and is doing well on keeping us up. But it's not financially viable and will bite us when we suddenly have a squad of 33+ year old players.

I honestly don't think 2/3 signings will be that bad as long as they are younger players (>27), and we do this on a window by window basis and we've got some good succession going on there.

Ferguson, and 2 attacking players in a wide and central role would be great in my opinion.

Hopefully Mitchell is considered good enough to be able to fill that young left back role.

If we sold him, got Sakho off the wage bill and I assume Bentekes wages are reduced in his extension that will do wonders to our wage bill and reduce expectations of anyone joining.
Spot on that

You say that yet we was creative last night , Roy secures our pl position first then takes reins off the team and shows what a adaptable coach he is

Need to get rid of some older big earners. Bring in pace.

If possible sell Sakho & Benteke. I’d also consider selling Townsend.

Ferguson is hopefully the versatile young defender we need. Then go heavy on a pacy winger and striker.
