I don't think it matters. Might just be a way to sell him now.
Why would we want a way to sell him when we get @£130m with him but a high probability of not having that without him? Are we thick? Think not.

A juicy loan fee and reduced transfer fee? Decreasing the amount Man Utd get?

Of course we could gamble. 1 year loan (with a high loan fee), if he does well with a bigger club his price next year will be a lot higher and a lot more takers. If he doesn’t do so well he can always come back to palace to stay.

I think we’d have a call from their lawyers pretty quickly

Zaha is a top prem quality player at probably his peak, he’s not going on the cheap.

That was the case last summer, but he is clearly unhappy at not getting his move and has played within himself all season. Gave him the benefit of the doubt and thought he was carrying an injury, but Roy’s comments blew that out of the water.

Who knows how he’ll react if we dig our heels in again and refuse to let him go? It has the potential of harming the whole squad and results so we may have no choice but to take the risk and sell at a reduced price.

Yes exactly this he has done a lot for Palace but we have probably seen the best of him and I think he needs a new challenge.

Time to move on we also showed at times we could cope without him.

With a lot of clubs under financial pressure after Covid19 there should be some decent opportunities in the transfer market to freshen things up.

I think if we can get around £40 Million for Zaha then I think we should move him on no point keeping an unhappy player. Just becomes such a Circus every transfer window!

Like Luvapoo away where we delivered a masterclass of attacking play.

We are so reliant on Wilf with virtually no other premiership quality attacking or creative players.

I would try and sign an attack and that means several quality creative and attacking players with at least a few with proven scoring records and then and only then consider his departure.

Even then i'd play serious hard ball over the fee as befits one of the best players in the league and certainly one of the most exciting and entertaining to watch. Players that have the most successful dribbles in the league should command a premium as its a double rare skill and one fans love to see.

Were you expecting us to go toe to toe with Liverpool at Anfield? They were good that night and not many would of lived with them.

We shall see what happens but transfer fees are likely to be much less this year than last year due to the New Financial conditions affecting clubs.

If Freedman negotiates it will be two years and a £20 million fee so that the loan club can sell him for £100 million.

As I said previously on this thread, it's a perfect storm..

Poor form
Already on 120k a week
A year too old
Cornavirus

All these things might make it impossible to sell.

Edit: impossible to sell for decent money.

Yes all valid factors.

If he took a pay cut from his new club we maybe able to sell him.

Not many clubs will meet the £130k a week he is reportedly on in the present climate.

2 seasons ago I’d have agreed with you. Would we have gone down this year without Wilf ? I doubt it.

He needs to move on for his and the club’s sake. We need to rebuild and can only do that properly with the money from his sale.

No loan. We need full value (£40m?? ) asap so we can reinvest in the squad.

There are some on here who believe we will still receive top dollar for Wilf, firstly values have dropped possibly for every player to what their club would have received previously. And importantly in the case of WZ, his form over the past year has been disappointing to say the least which very likely has put most of the Top teams to think again, if Wilf had put aside his disappointment and stopped sulking due to not moving last season and focused on doing what we know he is capable off this season, then there would have been a queue of top clubs wanting to sign him.
And for me even in this depressed market he would have fetched 65-75m without doubt, however now his value would be around 40m and that figure if based on his form this season is a good deal for Palace to receive, but it also releases his huge wages as an added bonus.

I think if we can get around £40 Million for Zaha then I think we should move him on no point keeping an unhappy player. Just becomes such a Circus every transfer window!
I was saying this last summer except I felt we should take £60m. I couldn't see Zaha making the usual effort in the 19/20 season (after his summer 2019 antics) and that his value had peaked. Now, he's not even worth the £130K per week we pay him. We have the power of a contract but are caught between what we want for him ( after the Wankers get their slice ) and the reality that he's basically keeping himself lukewarm here while he waits for us to come to our senses and let him go for whatever anyone will pay, because his wages are now a massive anchor for a relative non-performer and we have three other £100Kpw players like that in our squad.

Zaha's attitude has lowered his value and that's before CoVid. I hope the club is high-balling Zaha's price because of negotiation tactics to arrive at a final figure north of £40m. It would be great to get much more but it's unlikely.

Besides, £40m will go further than usual and removing Zaha's wages will help. With £40m could buy Eze and Ryan Fraser, pay both their wages for next season and expect maybe £5-10m in change left. We'd be in a potentially good financial position to revamp the team, all things considered;

Money In / Saved

£40M+ ( sale of Zaha )
£15-20M ( combined fees for Sakho / Benteke / Meyer )
£20M+ ( wages saved on Zaha / Sakho / Benteke / Meyer )
£30-40M ( club investment )

Total £105-120m

Potential Buys

£20m Eze
£Free Ryan Fraser
£25m New Striker(1)
£25m New Striker(2)
£20m CAM
£20m wages for new players above

Total £110m

I don't think the above figures are a million miles from the mark. Just an example of how we can afford to be well compensated for the loss of Zaha at even £40m, provided the club spends right, shifts four expensive albatrosses and is willing to put in the AWB money, let alone new money from the TV deals.

If Arsenal don't win the cup final today they won't be in Europe at all next season. If they then get rid of Aubameyang it gets worse still. If Wilf wants to play on that stage more than anything else Arsenal may not look like the right place.

There are players in every club sulking because they don't have what they want whether it be about not playing or whatever. It is part of football. We could easily import the issue with our next purchase. I completely agree with your first paragraph but a Wilf at the level he even was, greatly helped keep us up. Plus, if we do anything at all in relation to incoming talent he will be feeling buoyed and be better. There will be less of that "having to do it all myself" feeling. Also, he can walk free end of next season ? (assuming we are in the new one, window wise) so there will appear an approaching light at the end of the tunnel. No, it's a no brainer to keep, this is a business with millions at stake, you can't write them off for poor little under contract Wilfy. There will be no question of taking any sort of losses whatsoever on this and SP will make sure of it (judging by what i've seen of him with OUR (not Wilfy's) money.)
