Kirby and Woods have to go out on loan. Innis And Jach should stick around because of the history of injured we Get in this area. 1 of them could turn into something never know!

Doubt either will start , both looked very rusty
. Bats looked off the pace and Eze looked bit lost and gave away possession too easily , RH will want to work on that .

Well, knocked out of a Cup, who'd have thought it? Why can't we actually try and win one for once?

Has he ever saved a penalty In Prem I was trying to think?

Saints had one bounce off his arse last season in a match we had already lost.

Yep - the whole game was played out by both teams as if it was a training session. First round matches for us always are pretty rubbish games and this was no exception.

Not bothered too much. I was just hoping to see some flashes of talent from the players that have something to prove - new ones and those looking for loans or squad places. I would just be choosing the best of what was an uninspiring bunch and so don't think I will bother. Each of the established fit players had one moment where they did something but that's about it and nothing came of any of it.

He's barely saved any shots let alone a penalty

If we had kept winning we would have played this week, next week and the week after. Now we won't. So it is less congested for now.

But surely he saved everything that he could because they didn't score until the penalties. He definitely made one solid save that I expected to be a goal at the time. Was hardly Banks v Brazil but sharp enough and he kept it out - but nothing you wouldn't expect.

Seriously - I thought he was fine in the match, did what he should do, nothing more. The odd sloppy kick but OK. Pens he didn't get too close to for sure, got a hand to one and saving the keeper's attempt to set up the win but then ballooned it to keep the moaners happy.

There is no one left to convince about how he isn't first choice and so I don't know why people still chunter on about him.

At least we have Wilf as a striker for the next one. He knows where the back of the net is. We can’t afford to let him go.

Lots of people saying Meyer MOTM, I disagree, he was uninspiring up until 60 minutes. He didn’t do anything particularly wrong, but he was pretty much non existent in our midfield.

He thrived when Sakho come onto the pitch. As there was decent passes coming in from defence, and Meyer was finding gaps.

I think it was quite clear from the first 60 minutes that Woods, Inniss and Jach were told to clear their lines. There was nothing in the wau of building up play from the back apart from Kelly from time to time.

Saying that, I’ve gone for Inniss, he was winning everything that came his way today and is a massive factor in our clean sheet.

Our attacking play was poor today, nothing was sticking up front. Bats and Eze need more time to gel with the team.

I genuinely thought Hennessey was our best player in the 90 minutes. Didn't make any mistakes, one good save, one very good one.

Shame about his shoot - out performance but he did save one and I didn't really want to win anyway. So he may have done well there as well.

Yep. Hennessey was the least of our problems tonight.

Kirby wasted by far the biggest chance of the 90 minutes.

Eze and Batshuayi disappointed and no one else really impressed.

After the 90 mins was up, Wayne was my Palace MOTM. He think he certainly should have saved at least one more spot kick but he did stop one and I'm not going to crucify him for missing his kick (which was nowhere near as far off as people are making out).

Yeah, I agree.

Over the whole game I think he was a lot better than most of our players tonight.

You’re more generous than me. I just assumed they didn’t want the ball to feet so were playing it safe. There was a moment when Meyer gave it back to Jach in a tight spot and he couldn’t have looked less happy to have received it!

Not mad at that though. This is likely a higher level than any of those three will end up, and they did well in the circumstances keeping a clean sheet.

As you say the main downside was the long balls to an attack that is generally not an aerial threat, but in terms of pure defensive work it was better than I think most were expecting against most of Bournemouth’s first team
