Just saw that on Twitter. He performed miracles to get them promoted (with a negative GD) and then keep them up. But, even in the first season, it wasn’t pretty football (especially after they lost heavily at home to Spurs), and very much backs to the wall every game. The second season was kind of inevitable, but you look at where they are now, and the manager can only take so much blame.

It would be a risk, a big risk, but it may be one that would pay off.

Great point many and I include myself will be thinking what will job situation be like in the autumn/ winter especially if there's more lockdowns down to 2nd wave so an expense of football is something that will be put on the back burner.

If fans are let back in, likely at the start it will be restricted numbers so goodluck to those at the club on deciding who are the "special few" and all that before we get to the offering we get on the pitch.

At this point, it doesn't really matter who is the manager. The inherent problem is, there has been no planning on transfers and the squad. It has left us with good players, but they just been here too long and getting old and stale.
If anyone thinks another manager will come in a wave a magic wand and do better with the current squad, they are dreaming.
We are heading for 8th season syndrome like Stoke with a patched up old squad, that ultimately gets relegated.

Is Meyers contract known or just guessed? Regardless, it likely equates to good value. Some of the signings haven’t come off but if we’re looking to buy good players before they’re established, and thus pay less for them, we have to be willing to swing and miss. Regarding the RB - they’ve clearly lined players up (such as Ferguson) but will not over pay. Perhaps you’re amongst the economically challenged Palace fans whose attitude is ‘just pay the money’ like we did for Benteke and Sakho. That’s how teams get relegated. As for the wingers, we have Townsend and Zaha. We could do with back up but reading comments like yours you would think Palace were the only PL team with room to improve.

I’d much rather sign players with little or no transfer fee such as Guaita, Cahill, MaCarthy and Meyer. Thats how a small premier league club competes without running Itself into the ground as Stoke, Portsmouth, Sunderland, QPR and Bolton did.
