Whether this in accurate representation of his training performances, or just propaganda, I don’t know.

Well if we’re going to get a new manager in the summer it might be worth renewing his contract. We know Roy isn’t going before the summer, but the club might have something called forward planning. Jesus Christ Gonzo read between the lines.

Well...that's a big 'come and get him' message from the manager.

I think we just have to accept he hasn't been good enough. Compare him to Eze and they are a different class.

The poor guy's only had 55 opportunities to show his class. Unfair to compare his impact to that of Eze, who has played all of 14 games for us.

Max, You have been here 3 years, we have started you 30 times, 10 of those in the cup competitions. You have started 9 games in the past year despite being fit. The manager hasn't fancied you and we cannot tell you who the new manager will be but he may or may not play you, would you like to sign a contract extension on reduced money?

Or, Max, come back to your homeland, we would like to play you regularly, and here is the manager to explain how he would plan to use you and how you feature in their plans.

Cannot see any hope in hell of Meyer agreeing a contract extension with us.

Agreed, plus he is tiny/light.

Or you could argue he has started 30 games and has not influenced 1 yet

He's had plenty of chances, with the ball an accurate passer without the ball a waste of space.
Too far down the pecking order now, I don't see that we need him anymore.
Too lightweight as well needs to get on the powder.

Harsh but that's football.

Not sure that second scenario has the full connotations, it seems to have missed the part where he will be offered reduced terms regardless, involved in a relegation fight immediately with possibly further reduced terms should they be relegated and be playing 2nd division football in 9 months time. The manager may also get the tin tack if that were to happen.

If that scenario plays out, which it could easily, would it be much different to signing an extension here on the basis a new manager (as the original Stavros post suggests the idea for extending) will give him a fresh opportunity?

This whole theoretical discussion about a fresh chance under a new manager is interesting, as it’s contrary to BBS semi-popular opinion about Max just not being a premier league player full stop.

He'll earn more on a reduced salary here than at Koln, as everyone loves to say Palace is close to London, he might be biding his time.

None of which i believe but the role of a DoF is to think ahead of a manager maybe leaving and doing what's right for the squad. I imagine that's some part as to why we've kept our powder dry (pre-covid) and were happy for a number of older players to run down their contracts as they provided adequate cover to the first XI.

I don't believe for a second it will change anything IMO. I have said what I believe the issues to be with both Max, both physically and stylistically, along with who else plays with him, and of course the style we play, will likely remain to play. For me it's time to go.

But, in response to how Max may view the situation, an offer here, with a new manager and fresh opportunity in a top flight division, might be as good a decision as moving to a relegation threatened team in Germany on reduced terms under a manager that may not be there come next season either, especially if that also includes 2nd division football.

One of the many talented players Roy has let down and let through his and the clubs fingers. Never known so many players destroyed by him, I thought he was supposed to be a good coach with players. It seems not.

Yeah, he's doing such a shit job, if only we were a Premier League team comfortably sitting near to mid table, on a decent points total at this stage, for our 4th consecutive season, with little investment and putting individual players ahead of the club. Damn him.

I seem to recall him being influential in a couple of matches (don't ask me to name them!). But in any case it's not enough.

It's the wage value that is the problem. I'd be perfectly happy with him as a squad option / backup, but at those prices - not a chance!

My maths might be out, but I make it that last season we paid more per appearance for him than Man City paid Kevin De Bruyne!
