Check my past posts. Have no reason to lie and I have said this for long time now: from a very good source he is on 140k a week.

This is in line with what's on spotrac and in reporting. Obvs that is a deal done with a big signing on fee spread across his salary.

Quite destabilising for a team to have someone being paid that while regular starters - and consistent performers - are on less than half.

This has to go down as our worst ever signing. Depressingly, he surely go on to do something similar when he leaves.

Our worst ever signing? Not even close. Just a case of the wrong type of player for what the manager wants.

I'm not disagreeing about his salary. It was more thinking how nuts it would be if he's due more money for 50 appearances (which was the post I was replying to).

You mean he's not our worst player ever. But he is our worst signing. £140k a week and he's never been of any use.

Heís not on that money by all accounts and he was a Bosman.

Good player, wrong fit.

Itís not as bad as paying £32m for a striker who has scored 8/9 goals in the best part of four seasons. Not to pick on Benteke but Meyer has competition to win this award.

Mutch was miles worse. Probably costed more taking inflation on the transfer fee into account, and did literally nothing, outside of turning into Frank Lampard in pre season. Whereas Meyer did put in a few decent performances, most notably in our win at the Etihad.

Guessing itís £80k a week and a £10m signing on fee spread over his three year contract which takes it to about £140k a week.

Why would he get a £10m signing on fee? Surely not.

I don't know but I do remember 5 million euros as a signing on agent/player payment in the press at the time?

Players run down their contracts. You then donít have to pay the club for the player. The agents agreed a signing on fee. The higher the fee the more likely the player signs. Agent knows youíve not had to pay a fee to a club so asks for 10m

Simples!! Signing on fees have been around for decades even prior to Bosman ruling. Post bosman they have got out of control

From a cash flow POV instead of paying it in one hit we agreed to pay it monthly

So max takes home 80k in wages and 60k in signing on fee repayment equalling £140k cash flows leaving our accounts each month

Benteke was at least useful for a year. You could also argue that not long after that first season we stopped playing to his strengths.

So while Benteke, Sakho and Meyer have been a terrible waste of money, at least two of them played well for a short while.

When you think about it, if you consider Benteke, Sakho, Meyer, Mutch and Wickham's performances, we should be asking for an explanation from our recruitment team.
