I think Paddy overdid that sometimes. Wasn't he adept at scoring own goals and giving away penalties
![]() He is a fighter though and is aware of the Club's/fans' standards of giving it your all no matter what. As others have said, a Hillsborough Hero. I wish him well and hope the players understand his accent! |

Paddy's assistant is Darren Powell - he didn't do a great deal as a player but he did have one moment of greatness

I hope he can instil some positivity and enjoyment in the squad. The Arsenal game is a lost cause but when we get to Leicester I hope to see a team out there who wants to play and attack.

He’s a popular figure internally with players like Wilf Ornstein reported
Imagine if he’s our future star manager |

I hope he is not in charge after Arsenal whatever the result, if he is then sacking PV makes no sense you dont sack a manager with no replacement lined up with all the games we were waiting for to come.

I think there's a lot to be said for this type of short term appointment in these circumstances. We've seen it work with other clubs - eg Shakespeare at Leicester. The issue can be whether to give them it long term if the short term appointment goes well (see also Kember, S) but at this stage that would be a nice problem to have.

McCarthy's fondness for Palace is obvious to see. I'm really optimistic.

P.s.....remember all the fighters there were in that team...and the likes of Jedi, Delaney etc we've had since, has the game changed that much or do we just need a few "characters" ?

Yes. Almost identical to Shearer when Campbell had his goal disallowed for England in the other Stadium of Light the same year.

"Aggression out of possession" Sounds like we're going to smack the opposition in the face whilst no-one's looking. Personally I'm all in favour.
